The BCS race for #2 is obviously a popularity contest shepherded by the ESPN/ABC talking heads: Total Off: UF:21st Usc:23rd UM:32nd Scoring Off: Usc:15th UM:21st UF:34th Total Def: UM:6th UF:10th Usc:28th Scoring Def: UF:4th UM:9th Usc:12th
You really believe that Jo'Co? The SEC's bowl record over the past 15 or 20 years or so should speak for itself. The SEC's bowl record this year will speak for itself. You base your entire theory on Arkansas vs. USC. How much more tunnel vision could you have? Hey..my entire viewpoint will now be based on Tenn 35-18 over Cal. That just about as limited a view as you seem to have.
Yessir... stats ALWAYS tell the tale... like when Texas was #1 against the run, but the Aggies still rushed for 6 times the Longhorn per game average... Stats are great, but don't tell the whole story. The whole story is: the BCS is a sham, and only a playoff can provide a national champion.
Those statistics make sense according to the Sagarin schedule rankings as of today, November 26: USC #3 Michigan #13 Florida #27 The team that plays the relatively less difficult schedule would tend to have the better stats in certain categories.
well <t>that is pretty much the impression you've given us anyway.<br/> <br/> there is a very real chance that Arkansas could win the SEC, and they had the sh*t kicked out of them by USC. You are attempting to say that the games on the field dont count.<br/> <br/> This from the same conference that wanted you to overlook Auburn's consecutive ass kickings at the hand (or foot) of USC....because 'its different' this time.<br/> <br/> I thought Pete Carroll was blowing smoke when he said this was his fastest defense yet... I believe him now.. and you guys better too because that defense will lose ONE player at the end of this season.<br/> <br/> of course, you can just keep playing in the Orange Coast Classic conference and tell me all about how tough some of these teams are....we'll believe you.</t>
Im not getting into some of the other discussion, but that Sagarin SOS doesn't line up with others that I have seen. But no matter, a very smart person told me once that What is, IS! And with that in mind I'm just moving on and intend to enjoy the SEC Championship and Bowl games and feel the future is very bright for my Gators.
My view of the SEC is Tenn. struggle with Air Force. The same folks who downplay the academies don't schedule them, and when they do, they barely escape. Well there's always 1-AA foes like Western Carolina.
Bill is absolutely correct in that UF's SOS fares the poorest in Sagarin for what ever reason. You guys extolling SC actually believe that SC plays in a tough conference? The PAC 10 is a tough conference?  The reason you can only list SC as your litmus test is because they stand alone. SC has been the most consistent...ass kicking team of ANY conference over the last 5 years or so...no question about that. That fact however and how they have fared vs. Auburn and Arkansas does not indict the SEC nor does it pronounce the rest of the teams in the Pac 10 as SEC worthy opponents. LSU and Tenn outscored their Pac 10 opponents this year by a combined score of 80-21.
umm <t>UCLA swept Alabama and Oregon twice blew out Miss State while the nut cutter was still there.<br/> <br/> Oh wait, those dont count do they?</t>
Just curious gipper who are these people who downplay the Acadamies? Since it was Tennessee who had the close call with Air Force was it that nasty old Tenn Tom who criticized the acadamies? Must be according to your last post since they are the only team I know who scheduled a game with one of them. Shame on you Tom!!
Hey Bill I said that the folks who criticize the academies don't play them. That means that since Tenn. did they're not the one's I was referring to. Reading comprehension......a Florida education.....a pitiful post.
Really well here's your post I guess you are right, when you say when they do they barely escape. I sure understand that you were not referring to Tenn. But wait that is what you said. I guess I need to read between you lines. Well I need to get some sleep, I guess I can catch up on your one liners and changing direction tomorrow.
No I was referring to the SEC. To say that that post only referred to Tenn. is inane. Stop embarassing yourself will ya.
MCG <t>in just the past few weeks you have decided that the SEC's all time bowl record and Florida's all time winning record somehow pertain to matters at hand.<br/> <br/> The Pac10 teams can only play them when they schedule them. They can only get their hands on them every so often. The last time UCLA played an SEC foe, they swept the series. The last time Oregon played an SEC foe, they swept the series. Of course, they can't play the SEC teams every year. They gotta squeeze in games against Oklahoma, Nebraska and Big10 powers as well.</t>
You want to be that selective then Corey how about...your current Zeuss like team...the standard everyone is held up to..the one who just crushed ND ( make that 5 years running) the mighty USC Trojans own a glowing record vs. my Florida Gators of 0-1-1....
It's just Notre Dame. By Pete Fiutak 1. What, exactly, did USC do to suddenly make everyone soooooooooo certain that it’s number two? It blew out Notre Dame?! This just in to anyone paying attention: Notre Dame was overrated to start the season, it’s overrated going into the BCS, it was overrated last year. This is a team that got by over the last two seasons on a near-miss in a classic loss to USC. In other words, it’s Cal. Michigan whacked the Irish 47-21 in South Bend. Fine, so the Irish beat Georgia Tech, who’ll probably win the ACC title, but the next best win this year was against, um, uh, Navy? UCLA? Remember that it took a miracle meltdown to beat the Bruins as well as Michigan State. This team has no secondary, no pass protection, and got by on bombing away and hoping for the best. Don’t get me wrong; if USC beats UCLA, I’m 100% for the Trojans playing the Buckeyes for the national championship. It beat Nebraska, Arkansas, Cal, and yeah, Notre Dame, but don’t just assume that one blowout win this week makes it the be-all-end-all.
That's OK. Just because it's the most respected ranking system going, it doesn't have to be the one you like. Pick one that suits you. There are plenty of others out there.
Thank you Sid. I choose CBS Sportsline.......or I could choose the NCAA's official schedule ranking in which UF's schedule is number One as well.
