According to an SI bulletin Jones is finally out as coach of the Vols.

Why they waited so long is a mystery.

I don't see how they could keep him at this point.

Yeah, I just read on Saturday's Down South that he got whacked. Good man, just couldn't hold the rope.

I feel for the Tenn folks.
Even if it is for the best... transition is almost never pretty or a good time.

Hoping not to see this in my neck of the woods, but that is still to be seen.

Not surprised after Saturday. This gives the Vols some time to openly go after coaches. The goal is to have a guy ready to take the job the week after the season ends, then hopefully he c build his staff and be ready to go with regards to recruiting in January.

Also don't forget the Vols have a top 10 class already and I'm sure they would like for all those kids to sign in the early signing period. Which I think is Dec 20-22.

Buyout is $8,257,580.00 paid in monthly instalments starting 30-Non-17 through 28-Feb-2021. He is making $217k per month unless he finds employment with equal or better pay.

Listening to XM Sports on the way into work they were talking about the Tenn job quite a bit. Consensus is that they really need a 1) college coach 2) a guy with HC experience at a Power 5 school. They talked about a couple of guys who have Tenn roots and really understand the place in Jim Bob Cooter and Tee Martin, but that they don't have HC experience at all much less at a Power 5 conference school.

They thought Gruden is just not a good choice for any college program, even though he certainly would be one of those splash, homerun hires to start with.

I see that Tenn has lost 4 previously committed players since Butch was axed. This is the problem for all teams who are changing coaches. New guy has to come in quickly and try to shore up relationshps while he's trying to get oriented and build a staff, the position coaches are important to most of these recruits.

Tenn like all schools won't lose them all of course, there are kids who just want to play in Knoxville and aren't worried about who the new coach will be or who their position coach will be.

I read somewhere (SDS maybe?) that a recruit was quoted as saying Butch told him to go somewhere else instead of TN.

IF that's true.... dude... it's career suicide.
