BWAHAHAH! I talked to Kesley about "bedlam" last night... we noted that while there were always 11 defensive players out there... no defense was actually occurring! 8)
Fortunately, OK and OKS have depth at kicker. Between kickoffs and PATs it was a grueling night for the footers.
The game is sold out... http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/college/acc/university-of-miami/article182950471.html
Tennessee won with the 12th man this week... the referee. Our QB that started the year is having season ending surgery on Monday. 2nd in line went down with a severe ankle injury on Saturday. We pulled the red shirt off of a true Freshman with only seconds left in the 1st half. He didn't do half bad for taking his first collegiate snaps under fire unexpectedly. If Garantano is not back 100% the next two weeks, we are done.
Ralph if you get one of those suites I'll come to the game! I missed the Kahlil Tate comeback, he looked lost in the 1st half and so did Arizona so I went to bed. Game stats aren't going to help his Heisman 14-31 passing for 146yds, but he did put up 161 yds rushing. In the end USC smoked them. Darnold 330yds, RJones 194yds rushing, a 2nd back over a 100yds. They scored 21 points in the 4th qtr. This is very good for the Irish, esp if they win the Pac12. Coaching hotseats are on fire I assume in Knoxville, College Station, and Westwood . Hard to imagine those guys being around next year. I didn't see Wash State/Stanford but they handled Stanford and keep their hopes alive for the Pac12 N. Irish needed Stanford to win. I did watch a lot of Alabama/LSU and LSU on defense had the athletes to match Alabama. On offense they are still sucking at QB and had freshmen playing on the OL. Bama was clearly the better team though, and got the win and IMHO should get to #1 in the Committee's poll if they are paying attention. UGA won in solid fashion will be either #1 or #2. Irish won, had enough stats to probably hold on to #3 slot, Clemson had a narrow win vs NCSTate a team we defeated handily so I can't see them jumping us based on that and they didn't do any better vs Wake Forrest than we did, held them to fewer points, but also scored fewer points. Since Nov is every week an elimination tourney ..we lost a few 1 loss teams. Ohio State, Penn State and Oklahoma State. If 2 losses means no playoffs those teams are out. That leaves ND, TCU, OU, Clemson, and Washington. One of those for sure will be out since TCU and OU play one another. The 4 undefeated teams Alabama, Georgia, Miami and Wisconsin all probably can lose a game if they win their conference. Miami will need to beat the Irish at home next week to stay undefeated. Georgia and Alabama both go on the road to ranked foes. Wisconsin will play newly revived Iowa and only Clemson has an easy game, FSU. It was an exciting weekend. Next week will be even more so!
The idiot fan base is obsessed with firing Jones... The ought to be obsessed with firing the offensive line coach that can't get those turds to protect a QB.
TOK, Need to add Fayetteville to the hot seat cities. The Hogs needed two late 4th quarter TDs to beat 1-7 Coastal Carolina. https://twitter.com/jroll918/status/911689925363298304 Other than Iowa's demolition of OSU, the other shocking event on Saturday was Harbaugh wearing blue rain pants. Is there not a clothing sweat shop in the third world that can make khaki colored rain pants for Nike?
Lol...starting to make Charlie Weis look small... that's not good. I listen to a lot of XM Sports on drive time. They have Bret on a lot and he actually seems like a pretty good guy. The hosts really like him. Speaking of Charlie Weis, Charlie Jr is with the Atlanta Falcons these days as an Offensive Asst.
At this point in the season, nobody is getting fired these guys are all likely to coach out the regular season and get the ax the first weekend in Dec.
Dave were you surprised at the magnitude of the Gators loss to Missouri?? Do you think the team has quit?
Nothing new. I've talked with a few guys and we think the "opinion" that Sumlin is out is based on the likelihood we won't be able to finish 8-5 much less better than that. Many in the media seem to assume that was a hard line in the sand from our AD this summer. I dont agree. Even at 7-5 he has a good shot at one more year. 6-6 will probably spell the end tho...
I do believe the Florida football team was demoralized and in disarray at Mo. The developments with McElwain getting fired may have developed over time internally at UF but it was lightning quick for the players. I'm sure they were really surprised and down about it. Good read on the state of the Gators: http://www.gatorsports.com/2017/11/gators-searching-grit/
Did you guys watch that video of the drunk Miami chick being carried out of the game Sat, and not willingly. She took a swipe at one of the Miami cops who promptly punched her out. She's being charged with felony assault of a Police officer. I'm sure she'll get an attny and claim she was the one who was assaulted.
I watched that video and had to laugh at the cops knee jerk reaction, she hit him and he instantly popped her, actually making it easier for everyone else because she looked like he knocked her out, or what was left of her being awake as she was pretty messed up. I did read a little background on the drunk woman and she was really causing a scene fighting with everyone before the police and paramedics showed up. Sad part is her 10 year old son was with her and visibly upset and the police did their best to calm him down and carried him out behind mom. She is a 30 year old nurse from what I hear....
I know all of us are interested in recruiting of course. In spite of losses on the field Ohio State, Penn State, Texas remain in the top 5 of the Rivals rankings. 1. Ohio State 2. Penn State 3. Miami 4. Texas 5. Oregon...this is a big surprise, they are never this high. 6. Georgia 7. FSU 8. Fla 9. Tenn 10. OU 11. ND 12. UCLA 15. Texas A&M 24. Alabama 25. Michigan 34. Wash State 63. Neb I think that covers the Skybox crew. FSU, Fla, Tenn, UCLA, and Texas A&M all having good recruiting years in spite of bad years on the field and in all except FSU likely replacing the coach. I'm sure a lot of schools are going hard after their recruits using the fact that they won't know who they are going to play for next year. Alabama is down at 24 because Saban is being very picky with his verbals, they only have 12 kids but 10 of them are 4 star kids. I suspect that when it's all said and done the Tide will be inside the top 5. Same for Michigan, they have only 15 kids, all the leaders have 18-20 kids and it's a volume thing, the bigger your class the more points you get the higher your ranking. So this year though, we have the early signing period in Dec 20-22nd. I would imagine that will be a interesting day for most schools. For instance the Irish have 18 kids what if only 10 of them sign early the others say..well we want to make sure it's the right move and we'll wait till Feb. That has to be a bad feeling for the coaching staff. It is late enough in Dec that I won't be surprised if Fla, Tenn, A&M, UCLA all have new coaches in place but not a full staff. So will they be able to get the early signature from some, most, all of the previous staffs kids, will they want all of them? Kids who don't know their position coach even if the HC is in place may be reluctant to sign as well. New territory for football recruiting.
I have seen more alocohol induced atrocities at games and concerts that nothing surprises me. My son does a lot of overtime details for the NJSP at the Meadowlands for Giants, Jets and assorted big venue concerts. I asked him what was the wildest event he ever worked in terms of crowd problems. He said hands down it was Kenny Chesney. 80, 000 people tailgating and power drinking for at least six hours prior to the gates opening. He said they made so many arrests for fighting, property destruction, public lewdness and other intoxication related charges that they had to daisy chain suspects togther from a light pole so they could conserve handcuffs and wait for the paperwork or transportation to the local jails.
George this is how I first fell in love with the Hurricanes and Dolphins. My father was a policeman who would always work both the Fins and the Canes games and I got in free. I watched Jim Kelly, Larry Csonka and many others and was lucky enough to meet a lot of the players with Dad being a policeman. The Canes were so down and out in the late 70's there were better turnouts for the high school games than their game. I even watched the Notre Dame vs Alabama bowl game because Dad worked that night....Good times.. We would hop on a county bus at 13 years old when Dad wasn't working the game to attend the Dolphins games, buy scalped tickets for $8.00 and have the run of the stadium. Good Lord have times changed, I wouldn't want my 25 year old doing that these days...
