Looks like Mich State has found its stride winning tonight, UCLA continues to confound losing 30 - 14 at half to a bad AZ team. USC trails Utah 21-14 but quite a bit to go in that game. Georgia rolling, Alabama rolling... both those teams could be undefeated in the SEC GAME.
Buckeyes in another blowout tonight in Lincoln vs the Cornhuskers. J.T. Barrett had 325 yds passing (27-33) and five TDs plus two Tds rushing. After the Oklahoma loss, fans were screaming for him to be replaced?? Geesh!
Thankfully. Did y'all see the Arkansas qb? 6'7" and 275lbs.? And he wasn't bad for a freshman. Alabama blitzed all night and made his debut a rough one but he hung there and did well. Upsets all over the place continued into Saturday (and one of them was Auburn) so I am very pleased.
Lot of upsets last night, after I went to bed Washington got beaten by a bad Az State squad, only could muster a total of 7 points on offense. USC escaped going to OT when Utah decided to go for 2 rather than kick and take them to OT, and then didn't make it. OU escaped Texas when Sam Ehlinger had to go to the sideline for a few plays after a hard but legal hit on the sideline, Sam was on a roll at that point and I think we'd have won, but he did take that hit and he did miss some plays. Shane did a good job coming off the bench but it wasn't the same and Sam was a little off when he got back on the field. Bottom line we made a game of it but we lost. I liked a lot of what I saw out there from this Texas team. Going in the right direction under Tom Herman. 4 top 10 teams lose Clemson, Washington, Auburn and Wazzu. All in total of 7 top 25 teams lost to unranked opponents. Navy, Texas Tech and San Diego State all lost as well. Michigan, Miami, OU, Mich State all barely survived. Mich had to go to OT to beat IU. Sure turned the playoffs a little bit upside down.
Rankings are out, no shock that Alabama remains #1, then Penn State which gets a visit from Michigan, Georgia and TCU who is the surprise team to the top 4. Ever since the Troy loss all the talk has been about how can LSU get rid of Eddie O, they can't because he has a buyout and they are stuck with him. A lot of talking heads have been really taking Eddie O down, bringing up his Ole Miss days, and all that stuff. I wonder what the talk will be now that LSU has won at Fla and at home vs formerly top 10 Auburn. LSU has snuck back into the top 25. Will Eddie O get his praises sung?
LSU's offense is pretty bad. Guice was supposed to be a Heisman candidate but the OL doesn't give him much help. They just seem to be underachieving.
Before post week 7 becomes post week 8 I would be remiss if I let it go without congratulating Scott and his Aggies of Texas A&M on a gritty win in the Swamp. Even if we are more like Vandy than Alabama this year it's still the Swamp and we do have some talent in Gainesville..... even if a lot of them are home in their apartments on gameday Sat. or standing on crutches on the sideline.
