Someone get a new Bourbon he's trying out? 8) Astros in desperation mode, we'll see if Verlander can stop the bleeding!
No need George...your team is doing all the talking, impressive 3 game run...Astros backs to wall, on the ropes, etc. :? :?
Yup and he has a pretty good history with elimination games in the playoffs... But he will need a little help from the hitters.
Talked to Doc O tonite. As I have mentioned in the past, my 88 yr old pops (a lot of you here met him in KC) is a lifetime Yankee fan. Personally I'd rather see the Stros go, but if that doesnt happen, then I'll be pulling for the Yanks just because. He's not in very good health, and I like the notion of them winning if its the last time he sees that happen.
Huskerman, You could have called us and got me, JOCO and Mrs JOCO. Bobda, Thanks, but JOCO and my mom deserve it much more. In my house as a kid there were the Dodgers and the Sox. I took the latter but always pulled for the former as my #2. I grew up on Dodger baseball with my grandfather's season tickets. Hats off to the Cubbies, they just ran into a buzzsaw.
The Yankees have the pitcher going tonight that I would choose. He should be as fresh as a daisy. If he has fastball command and gets ahead on the count its lights out. I have great respect for Verlander but the Yanks are very familiar with him and he is coming off a marathon effort of 124 pitches. Look for them to really try to work their at bats to get that pitch count up early. Should be a great match up. Congratulations to the Dodgers.
I never expected them to make it back to the NLCS. I was surprised they got by Washington, who would have been a better matchup for the Dodgers. They never showed the season-long consistency in all phases of the game like they did in 2016. They need to overhaul the pitching rotation and the bullpen during the offseason. Technically, at the end they were one of the 4 best teams in MLB, so in my opinion, based on how the season went, they over achieved.
that Cubs lineup, particularly the infield, is really something. They are all two way guys who can cause a lot of trouble. As Sid mentioned, it all came down to pitching. For the Dodgers, if they can gain the lead heading into the 6th, it's a big problem for the opposition. A New York-Los Angeles World Series would really be something because either we're going to play a series of 5 inning games, or one of the 2 greatest bullpens I've ever seen will have to falter.
If I were any more on the edge of my seat I'd fall off, gritty effort by Verlander tonight. I wonder if Hinch will send him out for the 8th.
