Well as we are now into Oct there are some big conference games on the table.

Alabama will be visiting Scotts Aggies as 26 point favorites...at Kyle Field no less. I'll bet they cover, a true freshman QB vs that Alabama defense...I predict pain.

Thursday night match up is Louisville vs NCState. State has a terrific defense esp the front 7, and Louisville has Lamar Jackson. Should be a good game.

Miami and FSU are also on the schedule...I have no idea what to expect here, FSU with a green QB, but then so is Miami.

LSU travels to Fla ...Eddie O needs this one bad, but then so does McElwain. LSU has talent, but it sure isn't producing and the Gators are coming off their biggest offensive explosion in quite awhile with 38 points vs Vandy ...who'd give up quite a bit more the week before to Alabama.

Minn at Purdue...a couple of rising stars in the coaching world in Fleck and Brohm in this match.

Little Brother vs Mich this weekend. Mich defense is one of the best and I don't think they will have much trouble with MSU.

Wisc at Neb... Huskers and Mike Riley need a win. Wisc looks very good and probably the best in the B1G West.

Wash State at Oregon...titanic battle out west. Is Wazzu for real? Is Oregon for real? I've heard a lot of praise for Willie Taggert and what he's doing at Oregon.

KState at Texas....I don't know if the Longhorns have the horses to beat a grumpy old man coached team. Longhorn offense wasn't great vs Iowa State, defense was pretty good. A win vs KState would be a big boost for Herman, but I won't be holding my breath.

Ohio State has Maryland who has lost it's top 2 QB's ...can't see the Terps escaping without punishment.

WVa at TCU is a big game for the B12, TCU and OU are our candidates for the playoff..so a TCU win is needed. But WVA is a pretty good team, esp with Will Grier at QB.

Clemson has Wake Forrest ...so they should keep rolling.

Oklahoma has Iowa State...if the Sooners and Baker Mayfield come ready to play they should cruise in this one.

LSU at Gators. Both teams need this game. Gators seem to be getting better but LSU lost to Troy last week and they will feel they have something to prove and if they lose the coaches seat gets pretty hot.

    Go Gators.

Not that it's a big deal, but Kyle Allen the 5* QB from Arz who bailed on Texas A&M when it seemed like he wasn't going to be the clear starter and Kyler Murray was going to eat into his time, transferred to Houston to play for Tom Herman, now after starting the season he's lost his job to a kid name Kyle Postma. And it's not really surprising that Kyler Murray is sitting behind Baker Mayfield.

I just think it's funny that both those guys wanted to play early, which Allen did until Murray arrived with reportedly a guarantee from Sumlin that he would play as a freshman. Now they are both sitting the bench, Murray probably has a shot next year as being the starter. Allen who knows. But the grass isn't always greener.

QB has become the hardest position to keep kids around and develop them. So many want to play as freshmen and when that doesn't happen and they think they might have to wait a couple of years...boom they are gone. I wonder how many of the transfers ever really change their fates. Some do of course. Kenny Hill another A&M transfer is doing well at TCU this year, but he had some growing up to do, Will Grier is doing well at WVA another guy who had some off the field issues.

I think neither of the 2 Alabama qb's that transferred last year are starting either.

    Hmmm I'm torn.

On the one hand, the Aggies historically play very well as home underdogs which makes me want to take Terry up on the bet.

On the other hand... we have so much youth, and a few mistakes can easily snowball into a big deficit against the Tide...

However, in the spirit of the Skybox, I'm game.

    The current line is 26.5
Give me those points, and I'll bet ya lunch.

Terry make that reservation at the most swanky restaurant available, Bama is a juggernaut that is light years ahead of most programs this season. Sorry Scott but I'm not sure those points are going to help ya...

Hahaha, oh man, I've gone to the dark side but I've got my root canal covered...I'm still pulling for the Aggies but I'm convinced Bama is a beast

Looks like we have a little weather problem approaching from the Gulf. Right now it's projected to hit near Panama City, FL around Sun. Probably won't have an impact on too many college games.

I just don't know now about anything. Obviously Alabama has had 2 almost flawless games, but how good were Vandy and Ole Miss or Florida State for that matter? I think we win but 26.5 points again? I don't know. :?

A&M QB has made a big improvement for sure, but it was against teams that aren't even 1/2 as good as Alabama. Could the Johnny Football game happen again? Not likely. Although Saban has been somewhat effusive in his praise of the Aggies and their young QB.

So I don't see Alabama beating them like they beat Vandy and Ole Miss...more like 40 points not 60+ :)

Buckeyes favored by 30 points over Maryland is ridiculous!

It will be interesting to see how our passing game come into play. We definitely have an advantage in the running game.

Maryland's third-string QB looks pretty good to me.

This will be Homecoming game for the Buckeyes. Not really looking forward to the 4:00 start. (TV dictates everything now)

Especially if you are a meddling offensive moron like Will Muschamp who kept the current Chicago Bears starting Qb buried on his bench at Florida while the moribund UF offense eventually got him fired.

UCF beat Maryland by 28. I'm pretty sure that the Bucks are a couple of points better than the Knights.

Yeah if the Buckeyes show up 30 points shouldn't be hard for them to cover. Maryland is not the same team that beat Texas and scored 51 points on them.

The NCAA will announce the penalites against UNC tomorrow. They hammered the Irish for 5 athletes who had papers written for them by another student who was the girlfriend of one of them. The Irish turned themselves in as soon as they found out.

So logically you would expect more for a program that committed academic fraud involving 1500 athletes over 20 years. Bet they get a slap on the wrist.

The FSU/Miami game could be impacted by the Hurricane that is headed for the Fla panhandle. I doubt if they could reschedule the game if it can't be played on Sat. Maybe they should just go inside and play a game Arena Football Style.

    Gipper & Terry,

My thoughts are they now have a QB who is proving to be pretty reliable, better than the starting QBs, for the first few games.

I guess we will just have to wait and see.

One thing I will say about Maryland ...D.J. Durkin is a pretty good coach. Another guy to keep an eye on for a future big time job.

Edit: I see that Ohio State beat Maryland 62-3 last year, so maybe 30 points isn't enough! ;)
