I see that Johnny Manziel is thinking college coaching might be his future since no NFL teams are calling him. Yeah I can imagine Johnny Football being a mentor for young men just getting started. That's a scary thought.

I've never understood why he hasn't gone to the Canadian League, their style of play would seem to fit him very well and if he did very well there maybe some NFL would take an interest. Warren Moon, Joe Kapp, Joe Theisman, Doug Flutie are among the guys who jumped from the CFL to the NFL.

In the article I read it was taken from quotes he made while speaking at a Sports Betting conference...yeah that's the guy we need in College Football.

I see that QB's are out there bomb throwing before the season. Cooper Bateman and Blake Barnett tossed a few at Nick Saban and his handling of them and now Josh Rosen of UCLA lobbed one at Alabama as well.

Rosen says football and school don't mix, that Universities should be doing more...

Bateman and Cooper were not happy that Hurts came in and won the starting job so quickly, but what the hell does Rosen know about Alabama? According to his own statements he is so busy how does he find time to research academics at Alabama? Sometimes its a bitch being on top.

    Gawd that's funny.
I can assure you Josh there are plenty of your teammates who didn't get into UCLA on the same standards as the regular student body.

So let's say they raise the SAT requirement.
Does Josh really think Bama wouldn't adjust and start taking the better players who can get in under the new standard?
There is still the NFL... and guys will still want to play for Saban knowing they'll get there.

Josh Rosen has big time talent on the football field. He'd be better served to steer clear of criticizing other programs.

BTW speaking of QB's. I won't be shocked if Lamar Jackson in 2017 is not the same kid who helped beat FSU 63 to something. I'll bet he'll be more the QB who lost to Houston and in general came back to earth in the 2nd half of the season.

I was listening to XM College Sports and they were talking about FSU/Alabama...they thought that the game would be a mulligan for the loser if there isn't a blowout. They felt that if either FSU or Alabama wins their conference championship even at 11-2 that they will be in the CFP.

A lot of talk about the Wyoming QB, Josh Allen, and how he begged two Fresno State HC's into taking him but they said he didn't fit. Now he's projected as potentially the #1 QB in the draft, nobody believed in him but himself. Good story on this kid on ESPN.

11-2 may be too much. I think the loser of Alabama vs Florida State game must win out to make it to the playoff. I guess there could be a case where all other contenders lose late in the season and open the door for a 2 loss team to make it in, but it would be very unusual.

Well no surprise, the Tide are the #1 in the AP poll as they were in the Coaches poll as well. Ohio State, FSU, and USC follow in both polls as well.

We'll see what surprises the month of Sept provides. :)

Saw ESPN interview of UF Coach on the QB situation. He said he'll play all three vs Michigan. I had to laugh at one of his comments on Felipe Franks, he said he had tremendous arm strength...but about knowing where the ball was going he just smiled! :)

Said Del Rio is 100%. Del Rio was quoted as saying fans who said he had a noodle arm didn't know what they were talking about.

Malik Zaire could play mainly in option or zone read situations. Thing is I don't think those are his strengths, his running ability is more spontaneous or even some QB draws. I don't think any of Kelly's qB's really ran the option. Zone read yes.

He says he's not trying to confuse Michigan though.

USA Coaches, Amway Poll has four B!G 10 teams in the top ten with Ohio State rated #1 in the preseason poll. Talk about the kiss of Death!

Yeah its always good to be ranked in the top 10 to start the season, but not many teams ranked #1 in preseason go the distance. It has happened but it's not the usual outcome.

    My ND brethren,

I'm counting on you. Can the Irish cover -17.5 this week? Don't toy with my emotions!

I say no. I don't like having a new starting QB face a D with 4 experienced DBs which means we'll probably rely on the running game. I see us grinding out a 14 pt. win.

I say no too. Temple had one of the best defenses in the nation last year and the Irish have a new QB and OC.

IU and Ohio State are on tonight. ESPN is doing a Homers concept with Bobby Carpender and Dan Dakich former IU basketball coach on the crews..

It's a failure, I want to punch Dakich in the mouth he is so annoying.

Oh yeah IU up 7-3 early.

Playing Indiana always seems to bring out the best in the Hoosiers and especially at home.

Our young defensive backs are having a difficult time with the Indiana receivers. Lagow is putting the ball on the money consistently.

We will have our hands full unless we can really generate some offense in the second half.
