I understand the risk, but I'm OK with it. It hasn't affected you guys over the years, so I believe I can handle the downs as well as enjoy the ups.
Terry, you beat me to it. These kids will break your heart. Only deal with the upcoming class and do even worry about that until November or December.
ND <t>Terry is right, even those who say they are 100% sure they are coming will turn on a dime and go to another school. However, I'm just foolish enough to believe all of them. Thus, my hear gets broken every year.</t>
Lacey is Dave Duerson's cousin. Always a plus to have a family connection. Right now he's a little short for a DT but he's probably still growing and could be an NT in a 3/4.
Very good pickup for the Irish. Recruiting has been pretty good, we're in the top 10 for 2018 but of course a long way to go. It seems like the new guys are really doing a good job, esp Elko. Given the last 2 DCoord were reluctant recruiters at best, it's nice to have a staff the seems to be all in on recruiting. The weak member seems to be Todd Lyght. Hopefully Elko and Clark Lea will get him going.
Brief follow up on my son's best friend. He visited ND some time ago last year on an unofficial visit. I told you guys at the time that he's a victim of an old school coach who hasn't embraced the new recruiting model of hype, video and camps. Anyway, the kid camped at Auburn and peeled off a 4.43 40. He lit up the coaches running the drill and Kevin Steele asked him to run another 40 where he dropped a 4.43 again. He led the state in tackles last year and barring injury, he'll do it again this year. Auburn offered him on the spot and he committed to Auburn. They got a damn good player there.

Lacey was a very good pickup for the Irish that's for sure. Corey glad to hear Connor's friend got a scholie at Auburn. Hope he does well. There are always players who are under rated for any number of reasons and shine when they get the chance. I see that another Mater Dei QB is going to USC. JT Daniel is the #1 rated Pro Style QB. I guess Joe Schmidt doesn't have any pull! Right now the biggest concern is OL recruiting, we'll lose both QNelson and McGlinchey after this season and while we have some very good freshmen in Banks and Hainsey to go with sophs Eichenberg and Kraemer, still depth will be an issue and the current crop we have for 2018 are all projects. We need a big name in this class.
Not much other than the usual enthusiasm for the season came out of the Kelly press conference yesterday. He did say that our guy from Navy is still waiting on word from the NCAA as to whether or not he can play this year. Mike Frank and the ISD guys think if he can play he'll be the starter at one of the safety positions.
Sad day for Irish fans, Ara passed away today. In my lifetime he was ND's greatest coach, in any sport. He was a great coach and an even greater man. RIP Ara.
Rest in Peace, Coach. You were one of the 3 greatest coaches in Notre Dame history. I was privileged as a student to watch you raise the football program from mediocrity to an almost national championship your first season and to sustain that success throughout your years as our head coach. Your legacy lives on.
RIP Ara. You were and always will be my favorite ND coach. What a privilege to have spent 4 falls listening to you on Fri. evenings before home games. To me you and Fr. Ted were ND.
My late father's favorite coach. Vivid memories of Dad puttering around on Saturday engaged in some small house project while listening to the Notre Dame game on his transistor radio. Condolences to the SB Irish contingent here over the passing of a great coach and gentleman.
We lived in South Bend for about 18 months during Ara's coaching career. Always enjoyed watching the games live on local TV. RIP!
 It was a life well lived. He made a huge difference in our American culture. This is a better country, because he was here...
