The Browns inexplicably took Brock Osweiler off the Texans hands. He was the worst QB in the NFL last year. Why would they want him.

Anyway we get rid of Brock, opens up the road for Tony Romo and we'll now most likely draft a QB in the 1st round.

I just read the Browns cut him already.

Must be some kind of deal to take him off your hands for other considerations. I know they also got a 2nd round draft pick next year.

I really don't know how the NFL works, but I've read that Osweiler is guaranteed $16 million in 1917, so I can't imagine why the Browns would cut him immediately when they would have to pay him anyway. Why not listen to possible interest from other teams and try to get something in return before you throw in the $16 million towel? He may have value to someone else. Trade him and as an inducement agree to pay half his salary. You just saved $8 million that you can use to pay a player or two who can contribute on the field. Just a thought.

Yeah you're right...nothing in the papers or ESPN about them cutting him.

Here's a link to the report that was "alerted" to my phone yesterday when I posted that; it was from The Score and my phone alert only said "Report: Browns planning to cut Osweiler".

    http://www.thescore.com/news/1250437

Here's an ESPN analysis of the trade. I don't pretend to understand it but as far as I understand it the Browns basically bought a draft pick upgrade.

Well of course the deal is the talk of the town here in Houston. I think Stu is right, they will cut him. I guess this deal is like those NBA deals where players are included to make things right with the salary cap and then they cut the players. I've read that this deal was good for the Browns because they got a 2nd round pick and Brock satisfied some NFL mandate that they had due to being 100M under the cap or something like that.

So it appears to be a win/win deal.

Has there ever been a QB who has made more money based on being a very average QB at best, with a few high points. Plus it's likely that Fitzpatrick has invested well and is a very rich guy who is playing still because he want's to, not because he has massive debts, a bunch of illegitimate kids who he has to pay child support and stuff like that.
