I haven't complained about officiating in college bb for quite some time because usually things over the course of a game even out but yesterday in Lexington a very good defensive team the Florida Gators was handcuffed by the refs... for whatever reason.

As stated.... UF is one of the best defensive teams in the country and they know how to defend without fouling but they were whistled for 27 fouls against Ky whereas the Cats only had 6 fouls called on them.

The only fair way a college basketball game can be called when it comes to fouls is call it the same at both ends of the floor. I did not see that happening yesterday in UF vs UK.
Both of UF's defenders in charge of defending Malik Monk ( 30 points ) had 4 fouls each on them early in the second half. That's ok if UK is getting called for the same contact at the other end.... but they were not.

Conseuently UF saw a 12 point halftime lead evaporate into a 10 point loss. Hopefully if they meet in the SEC Tourney those refs are not available.

Here is just one of many similar posts over on a Gator forum:

"Worst officiated game of all time this was a robbery . And our pathetic athletic department will do nothing about it. We should sue the sec for starters and launch an investigation into a pay for calls scheme Kentucky paid those refs today there is no doubt . That redneck college does not belong in the sec they belong in conference USA we should kick them out"

I didn't watch the game, but college refs can be just awful most of the time and occasionally look like they've been paid off. Sometimes they get it right. But I've seen my teams both get hosed by the refs and benefit from the gaffs of the refs.

    Women's games are worse though.

When it comes to Kentucky basketball there are some wealthy blue bloods out there who are quite capable of paying refs off.

27-6 just seems impractical when the team with 27 fouls called on it spanked the other team by 20 points only a few weeks ago and really is known for good defensive play.

Yeah well the good thing in College Basketball it didn't really hurt the Gators in the whole NCAA tourney deal or the SEC tourney.

But as I said I can get pretty frustrated with the refs.

It doesn't really affect the Gators NCAA tourney position too much but the SEC regular season champion is generally regarded as the conference champion and now that looks to be Kentucky.

As I say they care that much about Kentucky BB up there that I wouldn't put it past someone to tamper. If not that then these refs have to go..... horrible officiating.

Well I will say that being Conf Champ or Tourney Champ or both is a good thing. You get to hang banners!
