After last year's complete choke job by the Aggies, I am a little leary.
We lost a lot of upperclassemen, but after that finish it might be a good thing.
We've opened against Bowling Green this weekend, and put up 50 runs in 3 games while only surrendering 8.
A good sign that maybe the bats will be live this year again.

I have no expectations so it should be fun as long as we don't totally suck.

How did your teams look in week 1, and what are your prospects???

Irish season started with a thud, going 1-3 vs a pretty light weight field in the Irish Classic in San Antonio. Could be a very long season.

Texas split the first series of Coach David Pierces career as the Texas coach with the Rice Owls. Lost on Friday, swept a double header on Sat and lost the game today 7-1. Rice was ranked 23rd the Longhorns are unranked. I don't follow very closely so I don't really know what the potential is for this team. We do have Kacy Clemens though!! :?

50 RUNS!!! Holy Crap...Probably had to go buy some new baseballs after that

The Canes started off great winning the first two games against a pesky well pitched Rutgers team and fans brought out the brooms for the sweep. And then Rutgers beat us to death with our brooms while pummeling us 17-6 as we committed 6 errors in Coral Gables...

I watched Grambling and Prairie View get after it last weekend. Those schools are now becoming more integrated for baseball and are getting much better.

Well the Aggies faced some real competition this weekend when Pepperdine came to town.
If you like pitching duels, you would have enjoyed this series. Well... the first two games anyway. Both teams caught up to the hurlers in the third frame.

Game 1 the Aggies managed a nice 3-0 win. Both pitchers kept the offenses off balance for most of the game.

Game 2 the Waves answered with a great gem of their own winning 2-1. The Aggies didn't help their cause with base-running mistakes. Two men picked off, and one caught stealing were possible rally killers.

The rubber match went to the Aggies 10-6. I sense that both teams are still looking for who will be the 3rd day quality arms, and right now neither team has that ironed out.

Pepperdine proved to be a very good opponent, and this series will surely help the Aggies later in the season when the pressure is on.

Irish 1-6 vs a pretty weak slate. Could be a very long season and a new coach in 2018.

Longhorns after splitting the opening series with Rice 2-2 have won 3 out of the last 4 against weak competition, Sam Houston and UConn. Next up is Lamar and then a big series vs Stanford at Palo Alto.

Well TCU came into Houston for the College Classic at Minute Maid Park and took out LSU, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss. They are #1 in at least 1 poll. Pretty impressive.

B12 did well. Texas Tech was 2-1 beating LSU and Ole Miss. Baylor was 2-1 beating Ole Miss and Texas AM. TCU was 3-0. Aggies were 1-2 losing to TCU and Baylor.

Irish finally got another win vs Rhode Is, but had another miserable weekend losing to Maryland, UM-Lowell and Monmouth. I could see us going winless in the ACC this season. A new coach is needed badly.

Longhorns got whupped in Palo Alto losing 3 out of 4 to Stanford. Horns will be better than the Irish for sure, but it will likely be a bit of a struggle for the new coach.

The Aggie choke factor is alive and well. They had leads on both TCU and Baylor late.in the games and gacked them both.
I predict anothwr nice season. We'll win quite a few and host a regional only to fall short at the Super yet again
    Childress has reached his ceiling...

LOL, well we are having one of "THOSE" years at Miami. We are currently 4-6 and lost to Dartmouth, yes Dartmouth. It seems we cannot hit the broad side of a barn if needed. So if revenge and Miami goes hand in hand this is the year to make it happen....

I feel your pain! With analytics being so big in baseball, Darmouth probably beat you with math and stats! :)

A&M brought sloppy play to Austin, 4 errors, and the Longhorns got the win yesterday. Always good to beat the Ag's! Even with our current winning streak though it's not clear how good this Longhorn squad is truthfully.

    Classic Rob Childress team.
Can't find their asses with both hands on defense.

This is a YOUNG team... so if they mature a bit this year they could have a decent season. If not... next year looks promising...
    Until post season that is.

Well... we're coming into the stretch run so I figured I'd bring this topic back up to the top.

Somehow the young Aggies have grown a little, and actually improved.
After starting 0-5 in the SEC the Ags have clawed their way near the top of the West at 14-8.
I still have no illusions about this squad making it to Omaha, but at least they are playing hard and will probably keep the streak of post season appearances alive.

As far as the rest of the Skybox goes - Florida is fighting to win the East, and ranked 11, Rick's Wildcats are at 19, and Bobda's Weasels are at 21.

Sorry if I missed anyone's team...

You'd have to really look to find the Irish, we are .500 but not for long with Louisville series starting today, I will be surprised if they don't sweep us. We are pretty much in the bottom of the ACC.

The Longhorns are sort of a middle of the pack B12 team. New coach has some work to do on the recruiting trail to get the program back to the dominance that Longhorn fans are used to seeing.

The Shock around here is how bad Rice has been this year. Wayne Graham worst season ever at Rice. Maybe it's time for him to hang'em up.

    Terry,

I don't think it's Wayne, he just doesn't have his usual collection of pitching this season.
Then again... maybe the recruiting trail is finally wearing the old coot out.
He's been good for so long, it's hard to imagine he's fallen down.

Well we are on to the Regionals...

    1. Rice, they must have heard me. They won the CUSA tourney and finished the season strong and will be in the NCAA's.

    2. A lot of Texas teams still playing. TCU, Houston, Texas Tech all get to host regionals. Texas A&M, Baylor, Dallas Baptist, Texas Southern and the Longhorns are all in the tourney as well.

    3. Some interesting teams, Yale, Holy Cross, St. John's and Xavier are all in as well.

    4. For the 1st time in 44 years the Univ of Miami is not in

    5. Irish finished a terrible season with 2 losses in the ACC tourney and of course are not in the tournament. Hopefully the Ath Director is working the phones to get a new coach ready to go sometime this summer.
