Apparently the hiring of David Ballou from IMG Academy has hit a snag and isn't likely to work out. Apparently there is a rule that if you hire somebody from a HS for a non-coaching position you can not recruit any kids from that HS for a year. Which given the talent at IMG, that's a non-starter for the Irish.
I might have misinterpreted what I've read. After doing some more reading I think it is not a current rule but one under discussion and that "might" affect ability of ND to recruit players at IMG. Nobody knows, so they might not be willing to take the chance.
Yeah, didn't Arkansas go through a period of hiring high school coaches of their recruits? Anyway, I'm sure that the compliance staff at Notre Dame is well aware of these things so maybe they are just exercising caution.

Didn't see the game, but it looks like the Irish got a very nice home win vs Syracuse. VJ Beachem who had a slow start to the season really had a great game. We'll need him to play well the rest of the way, have a very tough UVA team comming to the Joyce Center Tuesday. Ladies have a good UNC squad tomorrow,at home. Ali Patberg has been getting some playing time, she's had her career altered by some injuries hopefully she will be able to increase her role as the season goes on, maybe she can provide some leadership and toughness this team seems to need.

Those interested in where Justin Brent will transfer for his final year(s)? If he graduates before the fall semester, he can use the graduate transfer exception and play 2 more years, if he doesn't graduate he will have to sit out a year and have 1 year to play. Brent told the South Bend Tribune that his top choices for a transfer landing spot are UCLA, Miami, Arizona State, Indiana, Purdue and Ohio State. I'd say UCLA, Ar State, and Miami likely would put him closer to porn stars so I'll say it's one of those schools!

Colin McGovern is transfering to UVA to play his 5th year. Not a big loss, he wouldn't have been a started and likely. Of course the narrative is that he's had enough of Kelly and want's out of Dodge. But from what I've read it was iffy that he would have been offered a 5th year anyway and his parting comments while most complimentary included a couple that made me wonder if he was happy with his time at ND in general.
Big game tonight at the Joyce, UVA comes to town. We are the higher ranked team, but Tony Bennett the UVA coach has never lost to a Mike Brey coached team. It would be a very big win for the Irish. UVA is known for their ultra tough defense, but this year they have not been a great offensive team. So a lot of the gurus are saying that ND can break the streak tonight.
