I guess you guys will believe me from now own when I tell you we are decimated on both sides of the ball. Told you to take the points and run to Vegas. With 9;37 left in the game, we would have to score 23 points to cover the spread.
That is it... I am done with hanging my hopes on a bunch of 18 to 22 year olds playing a game that is so easy to have injuries that turn seasons into total losses. I have great weekends with my charity events and have it spoiled by this ****. College football is no longer important to me.
You and about 250,000 OSU fans! We have offensive line problems and no players to move into the slot. J.T. needs to run the ball like he was previously. He is not a pocket passer.
This morning we took the little one to the pumpkin patch, so I did a lot of driving and radio listening. I wish we could record what the pundits say in the morning, and then play it back to them in the evening to hear what their answers will be. Clearly, Clemson and Louisville are media darlings (at least for the ESPN radio crowd)... This morning they said (in a case against Washington) that Louisville doesn't have games where they struggle to win, but if they struggled against Virginia, then all bets are off. Then the Lou went out and struggled to win in the last seconds against Virginia. The same talking heads were talking about the 'grit' of Louisville and how this just shows that Louisville is really a championship caliber team... It was the same guys!! Clemson almost got beat (again).. Meanwhile, Washington finally played a close game in one of the true snake pits in college football and came away with a win. Same idiots talked about how that game with Utah reinforced their doubt.... Jeeez. As KP says so often, just win and move on.
VT @ Pitt VT takes down Pitt, keeping pace with UNC atop the ACC Coastal with the head-to-head victory. Pitt has lost to both VT and UNC so needs both of them to lose twice in their last three games AND win out to have a chance at the division. +1 Cal @ USC USC easily handled Cal to keep its slim P12S hopes alive. With the head-to-head win over UU but loss to CU, they need CU to lose twice or hope they come out in the 3-way tiebreaker if UU, CU, and USC all end up at the top. +1 Navy @ USF Navy made a game of it at the end but couldn't make it all the way back. Navy still controls its destiny in the division with being a game up plus the head-to-head against Memphis and Houston, and their matchup yet to come against Tulsa. -1 WV @ OkSU WHOOBOY! WV goes down. All of a sudden, the B12 is a mess and their thin playoff hopes are flickering. At best, they will have a 1-loss champion with BU and WV yet to play. However, OU still has to play OkSU, BU, and WV, and WV still has to play BU and tu. The best chance the B12 has now for a playoff berth looks to be a 2-loss OU. I was wrong that nobody cares what happens in the B12, however. The loser of OSU/UM plus Louisville and A&M probably have some interest. -1 UM @ MSU Closer than I ever expected, but UM gets the win. +.5/-.5 PSU @ PU PSU destroys PU and keeps their hopes for the division alive. They need to take care of business and either UM to lose twice or hope OSU beats UM and they come out ahead in the 3-way tiebreaker. +1 UF vs. UGA UF takes the win and knocks UGA out of the SECE race. Again. There may be a small chance at some weird 3-way, 4-way, or 5-way going to UGA that I didn't trace out, but essentially they're done. +1 BU @ tu The other shoe dropped and completed the day's annihilation of the B12. +1 Miami @ ND ND tried to give this one away at the end as I expected. They didn't complete the self-immolation as I expected. This loss essentially knocks Miami out of the division race, since they need to win out and have both VT and UNC lose out as well. -1 uw @ UU Ugh, BASTARDS! UU had the tool and didn't give him the rock nearly enough in the first half. When you have a RB with over 500 yards in the last two games, and a QB that is, putting it kindly, erratic, why don't you give him more carries to get the QB settled down? Instead, they let uw get out to a lead and have to crawl back, then lose on a broken return for TD. Dang it. uw keeps pace for the P12N with only WSU the only other team not eliminated. With that, uw has a loss to give and still control its destiny. UU controls its destiny since it has the head-to-head against USC and the final game of the season coming up against CU. Win out, and they hold the tie-breaks to go against one of the Washington schools. Lose again, and it'll be nearly impossible to win the division. -1 NW @ OSU Well, OSU didn't wake up but they got the win. +.5/-.5 NU @ Wisc Wisc defense is very good. NU isn't a pretender but they're about the fourth or fifth-best team in the B10. Wisc still needs NU to lose once more to win the division. NU and Minn both control their own destiny in the division. +1 Auburn @ Miss This was an ugly game, but Auburn exerted their will in the end. The loss puts Ole Miss going to a bowl game at risk. Although their remaining schedule includes Georgia Southern, A&M, Vandy, and MsSU, two wins isn't going to be easy. This loss removed them from the division race. Auburn's wins kept their division hopes alive. If they win out, they have a chance at winning a 3-way tie with Bama and A&M, but they would have a better chance if A&M drops one on the way. +1 Tenn @ SCAR I did not expect this result AT ALL. I know Tenn is really beat up, but SCAR have not looked good all year (not one good win, but a couple bad losses). Tenn now has to win out and have UF lose twice to have a chance at the division. Even if UK wins out, Tenn would have the tie-break against both if they won out. SCAR is on life support in the SECE, needing to win out and UF and UK to lose out and then hope to win some multi-way tie-breakers. -1 Clemson @ FSU Clemson removes any mathematical hope that FSU had at the division. Clemson looked really bad at times, but they got the W. -1 Wazzu at OrSU The Cougars indeed did get their sixth straight win to become bowl eligible and got to 5-0 in the P12N. Only uw and WSU can now win the division, both of whom have a loss to give since the Apple Cup would provide the winner the tie-breaker, thus controlling their own destiny. OrSU capitalized on the many Wazzu errors, especially in the first half, where Wazzu's possessions ended punt, punt, punt, fumble, td (but missed PAT). OrSU meanwhile had missed FG, TD, TD, punt, TD, FG. Wazzu was down 24-6 at half. 198 yards of offense to 384. Mike Leach must have ripped a few new assholes, because they came out flying (after the first possession). WSU possessions in the second half were turnover on downs, TD, TD, TD, punt, OrSU TD off a punt return fumble, TD, turnover on downs, turnover on downs. OrSU had punt, punt, punt, punt, punt, TD (off the muff), turnover on downs, turnover on downs, EOG. 383 yards offense to 104. The final was 35-31 The best possessions by OrSU in the second half were 39 yards on 5 downs and 33 yards on 6 downs. Another 24 yards came on the final play of the game which started at their own 15 with 5 seconds left. Basically, complete self-f*** by the Cougars in the first half and complete f***ing of the Beavers by the Cougars in the second. It was definitely uglier than it should have been, and I think the Cougars should have initiated the run a lot more in the first half, especially considering the Beavers are ranked about 110th against the run, but tough to be picky as a Cougar on the road. +1 +9/-7
Kesley, great breakdown, too many games to try to watch yesterday. Oh yeah and Tom Arnold and supposedly Bob Arum are reporting that Nick Saban almost signed to be the Head Coach of the Giants, but Miss Terry nixed the deal. She didn't want to leave Tuscaloosa. I guess we'll see what Saban says about this. Supposedly for $10M+. :?:
I looked at the Baylor/Texas stats....How does a team rush for nearly 400yds and throw for 250yds...lose? You have to like the Longhorns D'Onta Foreman and Shane Buchelle...those guys are just good.
No comments on Boise State losing to Wyoming? Group of 5 undefeated teams down to W. Michigan. They are also the highest rated G5 team, schedule is favorable for an undefeated run and a New Years 6 Bowl.
I think the larger story is that Wyoming is 6-2, and Craig Bohl is one hell of a football coach. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Bohl
Never heard of him, but I see he came from North Dakota State where he had a great run. This is his first good year at Wyoming but he probably took over a mess.
Pretty amazing that Uncle Frankie has stayed so long at Ohio, he's been there about 11 years now. Doing a good solid job. Bo Pelini is having a good year at Youngstown State. Neither are hot MAC Coaches though. If I were Purdue I might consider Bo, but only after a long conversation about his antics...has he got them under control?
Jalen Hurd announced he's leaving Tenn. Obviously I'm not a follower of Tenn football, but he seemed to be a very good RB and got a lot of playing time when not injured. So not sure what his beef with the Vols could be that would result in him leaving. The article on ESPN said he wants to play another position or play in the I-formation. Are there any teams that use the I-formation as their base offense? Also I see that the ACC fined Jimbo Fisher for complaining publically about the officials. As an ND fan who watched ACC officials rob ND of the upset of FSU 2 years ago, I some how find it satisfying that Jimbo finally got jobbed. But I will say that officials are the one part of football that is not accountable to the fans. The coaches, the AD's, the players are all held accountable by the fans and media. But the officials are completely hands off, I'm not sure how to change that though.
From what I read about Craig Bohl, he runs and updated version of the olf Neb Power I formation at NDState and now at Wyoming. Josh Rosen is done for the year, one of the leading Heisman Candidates coming into the season along with Leonard Fournette. Injuries, injuries, injuries. Haven't heard much about Lamar Jackson recently, and with the Buckeyes stalling on offense JT Barnett is probably slipping back to the pack. Has anybody seen McCaffrey on a milk carton? Right now it's probably Lamar Jackson and Deshaun Watson on the leader board along with the Washington QB Jake Browning who nobody see's play because he's out on the left coast.
McCaffrey had a pretty good game against UA last weekend, but he disappeared against uw and Wazzu, didn't play due to injury against ND, and had an average game against CU. At this point, he's not going to be mentioned. Rosen is a pretty good QB, but his OL is really bad. And the rest of the team is kinda douchey. All I heard during the Louisville/UVA game was that Lamar had to have a Heisman moment, which they claimed was achieved with his final TD to win with 13 seconds or so left in the game. Against UVA. He was 24/41 for 361, 4 TD/1 INT, and 17 carries for 88 yards. Not a bad outing. I have heard Hurts name thrown out there. And Watson isn't doing too bad, either. What do you think of Jabrill Peppers? What about the SDSU RB, Pumphrey? 223 carries for 1469 yards (6.6 avg) and 13 TDs. He also has 20 receptions for 145 yards. His game stats are: - 1 TD, 98 yards on 21 (4.7) against New Hampshire - 3 TDs, 281 yards on 29 (9.7) against Cal - 3 TDS, 220 yards on 23 (9.6) against NIU - 1 TD, 151 yards on 25 (6.0) against S. Alabama - 1 TD, 141 yards on 31 (4.5) against UNLV - 2 TDs, 220 yards on 38 (5.8) against Fresno St. - 2 TDs, 135 yards on 24 (5.6) against San Jose St. - 0 TDs, 223 yards on 32 (7.0) against Utah St. He's not playing top competition, but he's gotta be in the conversation.
