Didn't know there was some chippiness (is that a word? ) between WSU and UCLA...but there is..Wash State WR in the post game when the subject of UCLA purposefully warming up on their side of the field last year and again this year. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/10/washington-state-receiver-gabe-marks-ucla-warm-ups
Last year, Wazzu played in Pasadena, and the Bruins used the entire field for their warmups, continuing to run through the Cougar's patterns the entire warmup period. The douchey Bruins lost. This year was in Pullman, and a large contingent of Bruins warmed up on the Cougar side of the field, opposite of where the Bruins were given half the field to warm up. The first response from Douchey Mora is that Marks was misinformed. When video popped up, the PR guy came out and said "Person close to situation says UCLA's return specialists were instructed to warm up on wrong side of field and moved once realizing mistake." I stopped counting when I got 40 UCLA players and coaches on the wrong side of the field. On top of the MANY illegal hits I've watched UCLA make over the last two years, most non-calls like the blatant Owusu hit, I'm really starting to not like Mora. His claim is that he teaches tough, hard-nosed football. To me, it looks like intent to injure outside the rules and douchey, classless acts like using the entire field with the intent to incite conflict. Regardless, the douchey Bruins lost. All that top talent, and they are schooled two years in a row by little ol' Wazzu.
Here's a link to the video. There's one coach in Crimson at the beginning of the video then a handful of Cougs in Crimson shorts that come jogging through a few seconds in. The rest of those are Bruins, with about the same number of players on coaches on the correct side of the field. https://cdn-e1.streamable.com/video...7769_9b91e3c8c01ad2a4262a627b629522d900c6ad06 Here's a quote from another article:
When Mora announced he was going Pro Style and getting Rosen under center...he picked up a lot of ND fans who hope he can be lured to South Bend when Kelly is fired tomorrow or after the Miami game or after the Navy game or maybe even after the Army game in San Antonio! He understands tough hard nosed football, gets his QB under center and pounds the rock!!
Week 8 games are shaping up as season busters for some and a must win for Power 5 conference teams. I think we will continue to see the CFP teams be a mystery until the end of November! This has been one of the most enjoyable football seasons I have watched in years, with the exception of 2014.
Sid, Definitely a down year for the Irish, but that will only make the better years ahead more enjoyable!
I was pretty surprised at the Miami/VaTech game. I thought it would be a tough win for Miami, but one that they could pull off. But I didn't see VaTech winning easily. I wasn't able to stay up to watch the 2nd half of the BYU/BSU game but it turned out to be a good one with the Bronco's winning by a point 28-27. I guess the game maybe turned on what I read was the worst fake punt of the season when BYU tried a fake punt from their own endzone. I don't know that I've ever seen anybody do that. Oregon/CAL up tonight...another late start for me so I'll probably only get the 1st half.
Brian Kelly is certainly under a lot of fire from all directions....here's the latest from Every Day Should Be Saturday folks ...they always have a sort of funny take on things. http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/2016/10/14/13268754/the-picture-of-brian-kelly
4th and 19 from their own 5, resulting in a loss of 1? yeah, that's bad, but they held BSU to a missed FG I think: https://youtu.be/1OUamoi1TRc But I'm not so sure it was worse than Army last weekend. 4th and 44 from their own 30, resulting in a loss of 5: https://youtu.be/1b1sG8aj5Is
Ralph, Same thing goes for you and the Canes! Life generally gets better, if we give all we can measure!
How was that not targeting? And again?? With helmet to helmet defenseless or not doesn't matter by rule. If they're not going to enforce the rule, get rid of it and go back to the days.
Great first half for the A&M/Bama game. More evidence that the officials have no clue how to handle targeting. But players continue to be coached to go for the big hit up high.
Aggies need to start tackling instead of going after the damned ball! Finally got the O going a little bit. Noel needs to understand going around Bama isn't possible. Go at them or go home. Targeting call is fine... if they call it both ways. Hitting Noil with the crown of the helmet had to be a penalty.
