Stu, First order of business is a place to meet Friday evening. All plans for the rest of the weekend can be hashed out there. It doesnt have to be on our doorstep, we dont mind a little drive for a good time. If they have wine or beer my wife will be happy.
What is the total? How many wives are coming? One suggestion; The Prawnbroker on the corner of McGregor and Cypress Lake. It's a great seafood restaurant and location seems about right. http://prawnbrokerfortmyers.com/ It shares a little plaza with another grill and also a very popular sushi bar (I'm not into sushi but my kids and their wives love it.) If a drive into Naples isn't an issue, we could meet at one of the fine restaurants in the Mercato Mall on 41 (Tamiami Trail). http://www.mercatoshops.com/directory/restaurants I like Bravo (great italian restaurant) http://www.mercatoshops.com/store/Bravo-Cucina-Italiana/2138828658/ but the choice is endless at Mercato. MASA is a really good Mexican restaurant; they also have a Capital Grill, McCormick and Schmidt's, Rusty Bucket (they advertise lots of TV's for sports) Entertainment after dinner could include Rocky Patel's BURN cigar lounge, or right next door to it is Blue Martini (nightclub VERY popular...for youse youngun's) http://www.burnbyrockypatel.com/ http://naples.bluemartinilounge.com/ Or we could just meet at Bahama Breeze on the corner of Tamiami Trail and 6 Mile Cypress. That's a little closer for Ralph.
The wife and I vote for The Prawnbroker for the Friday gathering. Seems like a nice place to eat, and easy to find for our first meet. Thanks Stu for coming up with ideas!
Great choice, I'm in as well...The Prawnbroker interestingly is less than a mile from where we lived in Ft.Myers for a decade... My wife and I will be coming down from Lake Placid to meet you guys (about 85 miles). Just let me know what time you guys want to meet up eventually.
Waiting to hear back from Gipper...he was a little leery of The Prawnbroker because he's allergic to seafood. They have good steaks, chicken, and pasta but otherwise it's a bit limited. We'll see what he wants to do and go from there. I suggest Bahama Breeze as the backup. What do y'all think about 6:00 as a time? Sounds like we are talking about 8 people (?).
I'm good either way and do not want to give Gipper mouth to mouth resuscitation after eating seafood. No pressure from me as I wake up hungry and am easily pleased with most anything, I just want everyone to have a good time!
Totally ok with the backup if thats best for gip.. I dont eat bait but anything else is in my wheelhouse.
The wife and 3 y.o. kid will be with us. Kid is allergic to dairy (milk, butter, cream, cheese, etc.), sunflower seeds, and tree nuts. We can bring his food, but thought i would put it out there. Ralph, as far as timing for Saturday, how does meeting at the address you gave at dawn sound? Is there a better time when the hogs are active? Would earlier or later work better?
Ah...kids menus. I just looked them up...both have kids menus; Bahama Breeze probably serves more kids than the Prawnbroker. Still waiting on Mike to weigh in then we can decide. http://prawnbrokerfortmyers.com/kids-menu/ http://www.bahamabreeze.com/menu-listing/just-for-kids?view=list#kids-entrees
Any time is good for me and mine since we will have been there a couple days and wont need to get settled. Just let us know and we'll be there.
If you guys don't mind let's do 6:00 pm as "I", white trash farmer am working that day and need some time to go home to shower and pick up my bride before trekking to Ft.Myers...
Ralph, you need to get on the Progressive Socialist train and stop that silly work thing! We should arrive in town around 5-ish... so 6 is fine with us.
Have fun, guys. I'd love to be able to join you, but obligations on the home front won't allow it. I look forward to the reports.
Sid I wish every Skybox member could attend but we will do our best to share what is happening, especially when Stu starts misbehaving.... Scott I keep wondering why I can't figure this kind of stuff out....Maybe one day I will learn...
On the island! Got here around 2200 on a cloudy evening so not much to see...can't wait 'til morning. The whole way down the kid kept asking when we were going to get to florida so he could go to the beach and build sand castles. He didnt believe we were in florida until we took him down to the beach and picked up some shells. Three hours of trying to convince a 3 y.o. is fun i recommend everyone try.
