Just watched that video. Clearly a helmet to helmet hit that should have been called by the booth. So last year... any hit that caused a player's head to snap whether it was to the shoulder, chest, or anywhere was called targeting. This year... I've seen multiple hits to the head and NOTHING. WTF???
Oh, and for those that missed just how bad things were off the rails in the second half, here is the "punch" that got the Florida player ejected: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/florida-player-ejected-for-punching-tennessee-player-after-great-acting-job-2-231917869.html
Hey!!! He is a drama major who will never be drafted... He was just practicing for his future career!   Sounds good anyway. 8)
That was a terrible call, but also funny in a way given the flop by the Vol. The refs are screwing up the whole targeting issue IMHO, the crews on the Field are missing it and then the guys in the booth don't have the balls to intervene to make the right call. Player safety...pshaw who cares about that, it's the big hit for Sports center that we care about right.
Terry, This was not targeting. It was "Throwing a punch" or"fighting". Totally different from targeting.
And maybe ND's firing of BVG isn't the biggest firing of the weekend. Reports of Les Miles out at LSU.
Tom, I was making a seperate comment re: targeting from the Vol Flop. Gip, I'm seeing it everywhere. Miles is out. Like Kelly he stubbornly refused to make the staff changes that everybody could see needed to be made. In his case it was OCoord Cam Cameron, who with one of the great RB's of LSU history on his team couldn't find or coach a QB to throw the ball over the LOS reliably.
Hard to say, Terry. He is in his 60s and has already made a fortune. He may have had enough of the grind of being a head coach. Also, you really do not see a lot of schools looking to rebuild a failing program hire someone in their 60s although his past track record and recruiting ability might spark some interest.
Well as Bobda said he's most likely well set financially, so coach again is an option for him not a have to coach. But I just think guys like him have a hard time giving it up. Just look at Holtz and Spurrier, neither had to coach when they took the So. Carolina job but just weren't quite done.
I could see the Hatter going the TV route. I could also see the Hatter taking over another good job, installing the old school "Bo Ball" that he refuses to part with, and doing very well again.
Speaking of Bo Ball....How is Pellini doing at Youngstown State? Is he ready now for another shot at a big job?
There has not been much about Bo here in Columbus. The Penguins are currently 2-1 with the loss being to West Virginia. Next up is Robert Morris University.
