I don't think Kelly will really play 2 qbs for very long. One guy will move to the top. How many times have anybody ever alternated 2 qbs? :?:

Kp, We have tried it three different times and it never really seems to work. I detest using two QBs. Good luck to Notre Dame, maybe they can make it work?

<t>Wow! What shi* storm I heard on sports radio all day long about Kelly saying he's going to play 2 QBs in the opener. I really didn't think it was that big a deal but all the commentators on the radio acted like it was Major stuff!! I'll bet the Texas DC isn't real excited about it.</t>

In theory it sounds good, but if leadership is one of key traits that a quarterback must have, the question becomes can an offense have two real leaders, not to mention gelling as a unit, but who knows, I'm sure it has worked before. 8)

I do think there are way more tales of 2 QB's being a failure than a success.

Look at Texas A&M last year, they tried to keep hot shot 5* QB recruit Kyler Murray happy by giving him playing time at QB in the first game. They already had another hot shot 5* QB who was the starter in Kyle Allen. Obviously it didn't workout and neither QB was happy and both left the program.

Don's Buckeyes tried it last year and well they were 13-1 only losing to MSU with a mysterious game plan, not because they had 2 QB's.

I think Alabama the last few years has not had a QB who seized the spot in the Spring and Fall camp and the position was just like it is this year where there are some guys who have a lot of talent but they don't have a starter named yet. And I have no doubt that if the guy who does start game 1 doesn't perform to what Saban/Kiffin wants that he'll give way to another guy. But I couldn't see Saban naming co-starters.

I don't like it at all. Now you have two QBs unhappy instead of one. And you open the possibility of split allegiances among the other players.

Kizer should have been the starter from Day 1. His performance last year was remarkable. And that is no slight on Zaire.

Terry, Granted we had an excellent winning season last year, but a great deal of turmoil as well. I guess I am just flat out against the 2 QB Situation.

John Cooper went with Stanley Jackson and Joe Germain. Numbers were good and Joe Germain holds all of the passing records. That team should have been undefeated. but there was considerable dissension on that team as well.

This is my biggest fear Don, and probably why the 2 QB system is so often not successful.

Strange isn't it? Teams rotate RBs and WRs all the time. Everyone on the team accepts it as normal. But if a team has two top QBs one has to get all the important PT. Both Kizer and Zaire deserve important PT. I just hope our team is mature enough to accept the situation.

<t>When you look at and listen to Kelly from the wed presser when the subject of playing 2 QBs for the Texas game first comes up he seems very confident about what he's doing. He really only talks about using 2 QBs for that game and then sort of reevaluating the situation from there. Don't look for him to back off this choice. He doesn't seem to care what others think about playing 2 QBs. Actually, he sounded very confident in the team period. <br/>

I would look for Kizer to start the game and I would bet almost anything that when they are inside the 20 you'll see Zaire come on the field.</t>

I wonder who the 3rd starter will be at LB? Greer Martini seems to be a guy who just makes plays but doesn't have the athleticism of Coney.

Last year, Saban was undecided about the qb and changed in the Ole Miss game. We had five turnovers and lost. He didn't do that again.

You have to believe that all six are finished this year. The three charged with the handgun charge as well as Butler will most certainly be cut from the team and released from the university. The latter group also face jail time.

Uncle Rico must be ready to jump off a building. I can't even imagine how Kelly feels.

And I hear the echo of Paul Hornung's comments from years past ringing in my ears.

    Disgusted.
