Other than Steve Spurrier, Urban Meyer and Billy Donovan the Florida AD Jeremy Foley has been the major force behind UF athletics: "Foley soon began to build the Gators into a perennial contender for national championships in sports across the college athletics landscape. Florida had won nine national championships (in five sports) prior to Foley taking over the program. Under his leadership, the Gators have won 27 national titles in 13 different sports, the most recent on Friday night when the UF men's track and field team won the NCAA Outdoor crown in Eugene, Ore. The Gators made history in 2006 when UF became the first school to win national championships in football and men's basketball in the same year. Foley is the only AD in Division I history to lead a program that won multiple national championships in football (1996, 2006, 2008) and men's basketball (2006, 2007)."
Very impressive accomplishment by Foley. Sometimes the football program overshadows the accomplishments of the other sports.
Haven't seen any short lists so far. We've been damn lucky to have him so long. Hopefully the next guy up can continue the success.
63 is pretty young to retire from that type of job these days, I wonder why he is retiring and if he's really just leaving so he can move on to another position like Conf Commish or NCAA job or something.
Terry, there is only one name on the list that I am aware of and that is Mike Hill who is the Executive Associate Athletics Director right now. I am sure there will be some people outside the program and perhaps another one from inside. Florida is one of the top jobs in the country and I am sure we will get a good leader. MCG don't forget that while Foley did not hire Spurrier, he did hire Meyer and Donovan.
Here's a list of potential replacements. I think all are good candidates. Candidates to Replace Foley
