Strange things about QBs, some never live up to their potential. Justin Zwick from Massillon never made the grade at Ohio State. Troy Smith took over mid-season and never relinquished the spot.

Terrelle Pryor was a highly rated HS QB from Pa and while a great athlete, he never proved to be a great QB. His character left a lot to be desired as well.

We were heavily recruiting the youngster from Pennsylvania also, but he chose ND.

I am assuming he is a from a Catholic family and sometimes that makes all the difference in the world. I wish him well and he might just be a terrific QB!

Blake Barnett is quite the topic here in Alabama, mostly because he came in with so many accolades but hasn't grabbed the wide open position.

It doesn't mean he's a bad QB, but it goes mean that at least 3 of the QBs are ahead of him. I really like their scout team QB from last year, but I think Bateman will probably get the nod. The scout team guy, I forget his name, is the only QB to really show any 'wow' factor on the field. The rest are all just kinda there with Bateman making the fewest mistakes.

Phil doesn't really look like a super star QB does he...just an average joe with his girl friend on a visit to TDJ.

Corey, Jalen Hurts is the kid you are thinking of, I think. Dual threat supposedly.

Jalen is a kid from Houston area, his back up who never started a game was signed by the Gators.

    KP,

Thank you! That is the kid I was thinking of at Bama. If you don't get your LT out of jail in Louisiana, you're going to need that mobility IMHO. I thought he threw a good ball, as well.

Yep, losing Robinson is going to hurt bad. He was going to be the anchor of the OL. Although, with what he did, I don't think he should play this year, but who knows. :?

I see that Jarrett Grace has been signed by the Bears. He still has to make the final roster, but just to be signed is a nice comeback story.

I saw that Sid, he was a rising star at LB till that awful injury in the Arz State game. It's a long shot for him in the NFL, but I hope he makes it. If not he did graduate and will have a career after football.

ND Sellout streak... I wonder if it is coming to an end. Rising ticket prices, team is good but not elite, TV TV TV everywhere, etc.

I've received emails from ND offering me the opportunity to buy season tickets which I thought were basically only available if somebody died and the heirs didn't want them. Also there have been offerings to make donations to the Rockne Fund and have access to single game tickets. Neb and ND have long sellout streaks, I'm sure other teams have them as well, I wonder when the last time an Ohio State game didn't sell out? Texas doesn't have a streak after the last few years, plenty of season tickets available and most games last year had bare sections in he upper reaches of the stadium.

A lot of people say that the ND streak ended years ago but they keep coming up with creative ways to say tickets were sold. I've been told that when tickets are sent to an opponent for ND home games they are considered sold. Those returned and not sold are still counted as sold and frequently donated to charities.

Seems inevitable that the streak will end.

Agreed, Terry. IMO, they've been pushing the envelope, testing the willingness of alumni, fans, etc. to shell out more $$. There has to be a breaking point. Maybe, they've hit it. Maybe not. Eventually, they will.

Stanford and MSU tickets are 150$ face value this year. It's not just ND of course, at Texas the same variable pricing is going on with high prices for the premier games. I'm sure it's common across the country esp in the top programs.

Same here at the Horseshoe, tickets are on tier pricing depending upon the opponent. $150 and up seems to be the going rate.

Ohio State is allowing beer sales in the Shoe for the first time. Estimated revenue is about $300,000 for the home games. Of course, a donation to the Alcohol Abuse Program will receive a portion of that amount. Geesh!

I've been on the season ticket waiting list at Alabama for about 8 years. Not even a sniff.

kp, I'm sorry for you, but I appreciate you mentioning it. It kind of proves a point I made years ago that ND fans are fickle. While ND has a nationwide following, and while there are tens of thousands of fans who would love to attend a game, the reality is that the actual demand for tickets does not exceed the supply by a significant amount.

Case in Point: When Nebraska came to Notre Dame in 2000, their fans were able to buy enough tickets from ND ticketholders to amass as much red as green/blue in the stadium. I've said it before here, and I'll say it again....On that day, many, many ND fans were whores. I was there and I was livid. I had 2 tickets between the 40s that I never gave a second thought to selling at any price, which I'm sure is how Alabama fans think. A large segment of ND fans, not so much. :x

Sid, right now there are individual game tickets for sale from the Alabama ticket office for our out of conference games (not the USC game of course) for $75. So you can get some tickets but not for any of the conference games.
