Gators Draft Notes Multiple Gators were chosen in the first round of the NFL Draft for the 13th time since 1967, which is four more times than any other SEC school during that span. Alabama is the next-closest with nine. The Gators' 48 first round picks since 1967 (start of the common draft era) are the most in the SEC and fourth-most by any team in college football. Florida's 50 all-time first round picks are the sixth-best total in the nation and second among SEC programs, trailing only Alabama (51). UF boasts 15 first round picks since 2007, the second-most in the country (Alabama, eighteen) during that span. Hargreaves and Neal join Alabama's Mark Barron and Dre Kirkpatrick (2012 NFL Draft) as the only other SEC defensive backs from the same team taken in the first round of the NFL Draft.
That is mighty impressive MCG. gip - they played walked through the first half-dozen games, eventually it was going to catch up with them. Talen alone doesn't win championships. It sure helps, though!
And the Ohio State kids drafted were high draft choices to boot. The last couple of years Ohio State has been absolutely loaded. The recruiting train at Ohio State isn't slowing down either, they are off to a great start for 2017 and Urban is reloading. He might not be doing all the high profile things that Jim Harbaugh is doing but his results are better than Harbaughs so far...whether or not UM can catch him we won't know for awhile.
Game plan was way too conservative for some reason, that we will never know. Miserable playing conditions with the rain, but it did not seem to bother MSU!
Terry, I have to admit I was surprised with five players going in the first round. another surprise was that many of the Alabama players are still on the board, but they will go quickly in the second round. It will be interesting to see if Braxton Miller is drafted?
There was a lot of talk about Braxton Miller on local sports as to whether or not he'd be a good pick in the first 3 rounds. Most thought his athleticism was terrific of course and his ability to be useful in the gadget type plays and maybe the kick return game would be a plus. Just wary of his lack of experience as a WR, could be a project as a NFL WR. Also hard not to notice that Myle Jack was not picked in the 1st round. He had season ending knee surgery early in the 2015 season at UCLA and was projected as a 1st rounder. He's had more time to recover than Jaylon Smith and doesn't have some of the issues post op that Jaylon had, so I'm a little bit surprised he didn't go in the 1st round.
Florida's defense has held the team together ever since Tebow and co. left. Sometimes the offense has been worse than zero.... and that is why Muschamp was shown the door even though obviously he could recruit and coach defense. When UF's defense has also failed to show up..... like they did vs. Michigan.... then it's pure disaster. I can see why it happened..... lot's of NFL millions on the table and some of those guys just said to hell with it..... why chance it? On Ohio State.... Meyer is a fantastic coach and gets his teams motivated..... but sometimes they either play tight or lack a little intensity. When focused and charged with intensity Meyers teams are almost unbeatable.
That loss to MSU reminds me of that loss that Tebow had to Ole Miss, I think, where he made a big speech to the team that he wasn't going to let them lose another game. I think maybe they won the NC that year.
