Fall behind 25-7 in the 2nd quarter to Louisville and come back to win the game. Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, Notre Dame, USC, Texas, California, of course the loser of the OSU and Michigan game, of course Rutgers and perhaps a couple of others got new life tonight. Of course we all know if the Gators win out they are the obvious choice.
Hey Corey, it occurs to me that the ACC may have come out better than the ACC when those teams moved to the ACC. I agree with you about Rutgers what a story.
AWESOME !! AWESOME ! I had tears in my eyes ! This is what a team is all about! This is what makes champions! That undersized Rutgers defense SHUT DOWN a great offense !! UNBELIEVABLE !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrpQneTMUdM&mode=related&search=
Here's something that will bring tears to your eyes. I wasn't home for the first half, so I set the game up on TIVO added 30 minutes to the recording time to cover possible OT. So I come home start watching, I'm about an 1:30 minutes behind actual game time, so I get to fast forward through commercials. I first think RU is going to get blown out when it goes to 25-7, then slowly the tide starts to turn, then RU roughs the punter...I think uh oh...but they hold. Then the 2nd half is a magnificent defensive effort by RU, man those guys played with a lot of passion. Louisville had no idea where they are comming from. Now it's tie game RU has the ball 92 yds away. I think this is it they are going to win 28-25!! I watch the drive, I see Teel take the knee to center the ball for the kick, I see Ito start to come on the field....my TIVO runs out!! 30 minutes was not enough. I switch to live TV thinking maybe I've caught up and am in synch with the live...nope..Sports Center!. I read the story...Itos kick is blocked and I missed it but Louisville is offside...he makes the next one. Oh man I can't believe I missed that. I was wondering why Schiano didn't do what the Wisconsin coach did and just run out the clock with offsides given how dangerous that Louisville kid had been tonight on KO's???? Missed the best part!!! Congrats to RU and a box of Kleenx to Andy...he's still probably crying tears of joy!!! Congrats Andy!! Terry
Doc, Ito turned his head lost his focus watching the Louisville player jump offsides. He barely misssed it , it was not blocked, but got another chance because of the offsides. I'm thinking the same thing about the kickoff. Thanks for the Kleenex. Those kids played their hearts out. I was thrilled by how they came back. It was a great game. The old Rutgers team would have been blown out after the 1st quarter and you could see how explosive Louisville can be. These kids are champions in every sense of the word. They never quit and kept on chopping.
   Wow! Wow! Wow! What a fun game to watch! I actually skipped my old high school's championship game tonight to stay home and see if Rutgers could do it and I wasn't disappointed. What an amazing defensive effort! There is no doubt about how potent that Louisville offense is and the undersized Rutgers defense held them to around 50 yards in the second half...incredible! BTW the Rutgers kicker, Jeremy Ito, is a local from Redlands High School. Well done Scarlet Knights! Wow! .............JO'Co
I didn't get to see the 1st half either so I didn't get to see the Louisville part of the game but I loved the defensive play of Rutgers in the second half. Pressure on the qb changes the whole game.
There is still a lot of football left but let's say that Rutgers runs the table. They would then play for the NC against either Ohio State or Michigan. Right? No? Why not?
George, I was thinking about the same thing and this could really be a problem for Rutger Fans. They are not going to move up that much in the BCS Poll, in my opinion. Florida and Texas will still be in the mix, assuming they keep winning. Yoy are probably going to end up with several undefeated teams and a one loss team in the Championship game. Don
Anyone with a brain who watched that game last night has to be a believer. I am. You can argue how good Louisville is and whether they deserved to be ranked #3, but they definitely are a very good team, top 10-15 caliber for sure. Their defense was proven last night to be less than great, but Rutgers simply dismantled their #2-ranked offense in the second half. Brohm was a deer in headlights. This was the most exciting big time college game I've watched so far this season. Now the fun begins in the polls. Hey George. I'm on your side, whatever you say. I'm always on your side. Please believe me. 8)
I'm not a big Rutgers fan; like most in NJ, if they are honest, simply a casual observer. But everyone here is caught up in this team under Schiano. It started last year when they beat Illinois early in the year on the road and it has built ever since. Assuming they finish 12-0, and that is a BIG assumption, how can you deny them a shot at the NC. It would be wonderful for the entire college football landscape. But you know they'll get passed over for a one loss team such as Florida, Texas, USC or the loser of OSU-Mich. Maybe even ND if they finish 11-1 and beat USC decisively in Los Angeles.
" I been thinkin', JIF. You know that Baker out in Indiana or whatever. He's OK. Give him a taste; hook him up with something. And The Gip, have the boys drop off a TV, just leave it in his driveway, make it a nice one. Do it quietly. I might have over reacted. Not a word, goddamit...... "
I agree, Stu.........EXCEPT (one of 25,000 possible scenarios)..........All the other 1-loss teams lose or look bad in wins, Rutgers loses to WV, and the OSU-MI game is ever so close. If the game is not close, undefeated Boise State plays the OSU-MI winner for the national championship.
Sid even Boise State deserves a chance. They run that trigger offense which is not easy to defend against. I know Georgia spanked them at home last year, but without home field advantage I could see Boise State maybe not winning but giving someone a hard time. Some of these WAC and MWC conference teams have come pretty close to springing big time upsets against Big Time programs. There's still a lot of football left to play. Some of the one loss teams have very tough games left, so I don't think there will be many left standing when all is said and done.
