I know I live in North Carolina now and bringing the Super Bowl Championship trophy back to North Carolina would have been nice. But that the party we were at there were of course a room full of Panther fans. However I found myself pulling for Peyton Manning to win. Not the Bronco's as such but Manning. He has been a great player, and with the win tonight passed Farve for the most wins, but more that than he has always been a credit to his team, the league and handled himself with class. Congratulations to him and the Broncos.
I was rooting for Peyton as well, I hope he retires and goes out on top. Great career, one of the best of his era.
Congrats to Manning and what a way to go out, but holy cow on the Broncos defense, they literally stuffed Cam and company into a can and then banged on the can for fun...
Ya think Cam will wear Superman insignias and gold mvp shoes if he makes it to another Super Bowl? Glad to see Peyton win and Newton to have to eat a huge slice of humble pie.
I did not watch the game, but like most of the comments above, I am glad that Peyton can add another Super Bowl to his record. It's time to retire and I really hope that is his decision.
The entire city of Indianapolis, perhaps the entire state of Indiana, was cheering for the Broncos. Peyton Manning's imprint on our city is indelible. His legacy is forever.
I usually dont watch the Sbowl but when it's Von Miller time I gotta tune in. Especially when he's going against Superman. Looking at us now it's hard to believe the Aggies ever fielded competent LB's...
Anybody notice that instead of the "I'm going to Disneyland" comment Peyton said he was going to have a Budweiser? 8)
Reportedly Bud didn't pay Peyton to make those promo comments, but that Peyton does have ownership interest in a couple of Bud distributors. Reminded of a the winners at a NASCAR race, where they thank everybody who has a logo on their car or a patch on their suit, and the maker of their sunglasses, and their tires, and and and. .. you get the point.
Did you guy notice that one of the first people to greet Manning after the game on the field was Papa John ?
He probably should have said ....well right now I just want to enjoy a Pappa John pizza and a cold Budweiser.
"I'm gonna drink a lot of Budweiser" is perhaps my favorite post Super Bowl moment of all time. That is Bradshaw-esque. I see Bud insists they didn't pay him to say that, and I believe them. Peyton has so many royalty obligations to fill that it's best to just spit them all out. Odds are, he's getting a check from them. If he's wrong, maybe they'll want to give him checks in the future.
On the other side of the fence Cam Newton walked out of his press conference. I think he has a lot to learn about how to handle the press and his image. He might hire Manning as a consultant.
A question about Newton, did he really back off trying to recover the fumble or die he change his trajectory to go for the ball? I watched it twice and my first thought was that he avoided going for the fumble but a second look made me wonder if it wasn't that he was shifting to go at it from another angle. Most likely it was the former.
It looked to me like he didn't want to risk his ankles getting in there going for the ball, especially since it looked like the Broncos were very close to wrapping it up at that time (before it squirted away). It looked odd, but I didn't ascribe any lack of heart or tenacity to his actions.
