It should be interesting to see what happens Tuesday after week 11. Will the Cowboys jump ND in the poll? I do not see any other possible choices in the top 4.
Gip, I agree not very impressive in my mind. It's always interesting to me how the committee members will vote. Personally I think Notre Dame deserves to be in the top four. With Stanford losing to Oregon, all you have to do is win out.
I'm really pissed when the Big 12 comes up. TCU and Baylor play a Pop Warner schedule for most of the year and end up with inflated rankings. Then when they finally play a team that wears big boy pants they get exposed. But what's worse is that a team like OK that now gets to feast on these inflated ranking foes gets "quality" wins. ********.
Gip, I wish you wouldn't be so cryptic. Tell us how you really feel. Seriously, I don't hear anyone saying anythng about TCU's narrow win over a less-than-woeful Kansas team. Granted, their QB left the game early, but if TCU is that good, his absence shouldn't have made the game that close. Gip clearly pointed out that OK State had to rally from behind to beat Iowa State. OK lost to Texas early, which certainly is not a "quality" loss (No offense, Terry). If ND wins out yet gets bumped from the top 4, which certainly is possible, I sure hope it's not by a B12 team.
Funny you mention that Sid because I was about to mention that terrible TCU win against winless Kansas. I hate this style points **** and this is precisely why an 8 team playoff is needed. People used to say 'you don't have an argument between 4 and 5' when in reality, you sure did. The argument between 8 and 9 gets much weaker because you can include the conference champions at that point before any wild cards are taken. That being said, I really hope Kelly and these seniors remind the kids just how flipping detestable Boston College and Stanford really are to us. I hate playing BC because we are almost always their entire year. Then there is Stanford. Always just a giant pack of assholes in NoCal who believe they are better than you no matter what their record is. They have no respect for anyone, or anything other than themselves and I hate the fact that they are our 'alternate' west coast game because that puts them on some kind of level with USC, which they are not. I don't see a pretty win coming vs BC because they have a great defense and have only really been hammered once this year (by Clemson). Nor do I see a pretty win over Stanford in the future because, as they always do, they **** the bed in their big league game taking themselves out of the national picture and playing to ruin ND's year. Those 2 aren't a good combo. The entire college football country will be watching. I believe that this week is FCS week in the SEC. There are fewer premium games. There's no way these games can 'get lost in the media shuffle' of talking about other games going on.[/code]
Okay, I got a big laugh outta this, and thought Corey would enjoy it at the least: https://twitter.com/MattRHinton/status/665795819098890240/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc^tfw
Well one thing for sure if Clemson and Ohio State remain undefeated they will get in no questions asked. If Alabama wins out they will get in and nobody will question them. But if there are a number of 1 loss teams vying for the 4th spot, who ever gets will feel they deserve it and those who don't get it will feel like they were screwed. Only way the 1 loss team probably don't feel screwed is if somehow Oklahoma State wins out and finishes undefeated.
1.Clemson 2. Alabama 3. Ohio State 4. Notre Dame 5. Iowa 6. Oklahoma State. Discussion is that of those 6 ND is the only one who doesn't control their destiny. Iowa wins out..they are in. Oklahoma State wins out they are in, ND wins out, they need Iowa and OK State to lose. It would be nice as well for Stanford to hump CAL next weekend and the Irish to hump BC. While Neb beats Iowa and Baylor takes out OKstate..then the following weekend OkState takes out OU!! That's the script boys!!
Clemson has to play FSU, Ohio State has to play Michigan State, Alabama gets a pass, Oklahoma State plays Baylor. Some favorite in here is probably going to lose. The next week will be more of the same. If Notre Dame (or any one of these teams really) wins out which means beating Stanford, then they should be in.
  re: Buckeyes Ohio State has a huge test at Michigan next week. Based on what I've seen, the Harbaugh Wolvies will be more than a match for them. It should be a duesy...
Am I missing something or will the Ohio State-Iowa situation take care of itself? Assuming Ohio State wins their division and Iowa wins theirs, then they'd play in the Big1G championship game.
Corey, If we win out no problems, a lot on the line this Saturday with Michigan State here in the Shoe. We have won 24 straight games to tie a previous record. If we lose Saturday it will be a tough one to swallow, but Urban has yet to lose a Big Ten game in the regular season! Jim is correct in that the season final in The Big House will be a doozy. The Big Ten Conference also has four teams in the top 12 of the CFP field!
Yes UNC will win their Division and play Clemson for the ACC title. UNC seems to be peaking at the right time of the year and could give Clemson a battle. From a ND perspective I think it's better for us if Clemson remains undefeated. I think it will be wild is some how Ohio State beats MSU, then loses to UM in the final. I think they would still win their division and go to the Big 10 Championship and if they beat Iowa that would leave the B10 with a 1 loss champion and one who lost late. If ND and OU win out I wonder if they would both end up in and Ohio State the last team out?
Terry, Personally I do not think we will not know the end results, until the conference championships are over. It could be a wild finish and someone is bound to be unhappy! I still like the four team playoff even if someone is left out.
