The first CFP Rankings will be out tomorrow. I am not too excited about that this time around. The last one on December 6th is the one that will count! With the games this week, there will be some serious movement in the standings. There will be some upsets, but who knows which teams will be the victims? Oklahoma State is always dangerous, but I still think TCU will handle them in their game. Alabama and LSU should be a great game! We should be able to the Gophers here in a prime time night game.
Bama-LSU could go either way. If LSU does win.... then Ole Miss is back in the picture and Bama is out of everything... except the Citrus Bowl. The best the SEC can hope for is for either Bama or LSU to win out along with Florida winning out. That would assure the conference of either unbeaten LSU or a one loss champion in the CFB playoff.
Very big weekend, well for the whole month every weekend will have huge games with impact on the playoffs. Thurs Night we get right after it with Baylor traveling to Kansas State, befoe he season you'd have figured this to be a tough game for Baylor, it still might be since they will be breaking in a freshman starter on the road against KSU. But KSU is really struggling this year, heck even Texas took them to the woodshed. If the BU QB can just use the talent around him, they should cruise against KState. Fiday Temple has to get right back on it and go to Dallas to play SMU who is 1-7, so unless they forget to get on the plane they should win handily. Sat. This is where the feet hit the ground. Vandy at UF...Houston Cougars throttled them, the Gators should do the same. Notre Dame at Pitt...Irish should win, but it'll be another dog fight. Stanford at Colorado...Colorado almost beat UCLA, maybe they have something going there now, Stanford lucky to escape Wazzu. Still I'd expect Stanford to win handily. FSU at Clemson. I don't know who will start for FSU, but this game is huge on the National Radar. I wonder if FSU RB Cook will be back for this game. Ark at Ole Miss...Ole Miss can't lose anymore games. I expect a close game here. RU at Mich...Mich rolls. TCU at Ok State...1 less undefeated team after this game. TCU not a great defense, I won't be shocked if this is one of those 56-54 games. Boykin will be the difference. Cincy at Houston...big game for the Cougars, Cincy a good team, maybe the best team they have faced. Like all the AAC top 25 teams they need to keep winning. So.Car at Tenn ...won't be as much fun with the old ball coach not around to poke fun at Tenn, but this game should be a laugher for the Vols. Some thought the Vols would have Alabama hangover and lose last weekend. But they showed they were resilient. Navy at Memphis...the Middies are always a load for everybody because they are so damn tough on offense. I expect Memphis to beat them but they'll be in a fight. Utah at Washington. Utes can not afford to lose. Auburn at Texas A&M...the Kyler Murray show continues...I like that little hop step he has when he's in full gear and he's go the best QB slide in college football. Aggies roll. LSU at Alabama...the big game of the day, Alabama defense vs Heisman Candidate from Baton Rouge, head to head with Derrick Henry. Should be a great game. Kansas at Texas...oh boy, Kansas actually scored against Iowa State, something Texas didn't do. Jerrod Heard was exposed by Iowa State, but not sure KU can do the same. Texas gets the win. Minn at Ohio State...Cardale Jones and Zeke too much for the Gophers. Arizona at USC....Trojans seem to have it going now, maybe a sober coach is all they needed. RichRod is said to be the leader to go to Va.Tech, or Georgia if Richt leaves. Lot of big games, and a lot of other games that should be excellent.
Interesting follow up on JT Barrett...Urban Meyer is revoking his scholarship for the Summer Term in 2016. Now that's very interesting. I personally think it's bizzare to have the punishment so far in the future. I'm not sure what the appropriate punishment is to tell you the truth, a couple of game suspension seems OK, the usual counseling regarding drinking etc. Revoke the scholarship for the first offense and have it be so far removed from the incident, that is very odd. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/14037066/ohio-state-buckeyes-qb-jt-barrett-lose-scholarship-term-dui-arrest
I thought that was unusual, as well T. Revoking the scholarship for a term sounds pretty severe, until you realize it's the Summer Term, next year. JT may not even be at OSU at that point. If it's really intended to be a deterrent and punishment, why not Winter term? Or Spring term?
Gonna be attending the Vandy vs UF game with my son who is a senior, his girlfriend and my wife who has never experienced a college football game.
Have a great time, Ralph. Clinching the SEC East, easily, should be a great game for the Gators in attendance. For Hurricanes, maybe not, but enjoy anyway.
LOL, thanks kes, yeah I'm thinking my "Gay Gotors" game shout probably won't go over very well....Andddddddd we are siting in the student section, gulp..
Lmao, i don't suppose so. Although, you might have a trip report to rival corey if you do, in the student section no less.
Didn't Meyer do something similar a couple of years ago at UF? Suspend a player for a game in the future? :?:
Ralph, I'll be seeing my second UF game this season.... and second opponent from Tennessee on Saturday as I too will be at the game. Should be a fun time.... it's Homecoming also. As such I half expect Steve Spurrier to be introduced at halftime. That would be cool.... 8)
Ralph, Blow Me Gators was my phrase of choice when we were going to games. So much so that we had an African Grey parrot that picked up that phrase. He would swing upside down and whistle the Gator band tune that led up to Go Gators but would insert Blow me Gators. He later shortened it to Blow me... That Grey's name was Peyton. 8)
Enjoy Ralph. We are going to be there ourselves. Second game this year and first home game. Two of our grandsons are in the band and another grandson and a granddaughter are there also. A great time to be had by all.
There are a lot of rumors that Charlie Strong is coaching for his job in these next 4 games (KU, WVU, Tech, Baylor). If he loses to 0-8 KU he's done, he absolutely has to beat KU and the team needs to look good and well coached doing it. Then the gauntlet starts, the trip to Morgantown to play a decent WVU team, followed by Tech on Thanksgiving in Austin and then a trip up I35 to Waco for Baylor. Games vs WVU and Tech need to be very competitive, the big cigars won't put up with being run out of the stadium by those two teams. They won't like it to lose again to Baylor, but if it's another huge blowout like TCU then again looks bleak for Strong. I have no idea what team will show up this Saturday in Austin to play a truly awful KU team that has no talent, that would be last in the Big South much less the B12. But if the bad Longhorns show up and either don't win or play them way too close, it'll be bad. There is already some talk that big cigars are willing to work with Charlie in finding a soft landing for him, South Carolina or Miami are supposedly interested in him. They would help with the buyout to get him on his way. No clue, beyond Nick Saban, who they will target but I'd bet that they will go after Tom Herman at UH if a change is made. Now the thing about it is that for as well as his 1st year has gone, it's his first year. He'd be a risky hire IMHO. But he is a Texan, has good experience as a Coord in a number of places including Ohio State with Urban Meyer, so it's not like he's undertrained. But it's a much different deal at Texas than UofH. Of course Sumlin made the leap, so maybe Herman can make it as well.
T - believe me, no group of fans is more pessimistic than Wazzu, but I don't see any way KU beats tu. As bad as the horns have looked, KU is on another planet of incompetence.
Yeah I can't see us losing to KU, but then I don't know where this team is mentally. Strong has reportedly been exploring his options, by that I mean his agent is talking to peope while Charlie of course denies it publically. Which is pretty standard for the profession. This situation is so similar to Tyrone Willingham at ND, except he got three years, but everybody knows that he became aware that he was not a good fit and he had contacts with the Huskies before they lowered the boom on him at ND. He wasn't going to quit or resign at ND it costs him money, same with Charlie he can't quit they need to fire him and pay him off or have a backroom deal to eliminate the buyout problems so he can move on to another job. There are already plenty of job openings that would be happy to take Strong, but not with his current buyout.
Have to believe that Mark Richt is almost in the same boat as Charlie. Can't lose to Kentucky.... better not lose to Auburn and Ga Tech.
Richt is only 55y/o. You'd have to assume that he would coach again, some place. Even though he's a Miami grad I wonder if he'd be willing to go back there to "save" the program. I wouldn't be surprised though if he took a year off to recharge the batteries.
