Well I just ordered the Phantom 3 with the 4K video camera bundle....

I have zero experience operating a drone but a prospective customer in my Ag consulting business called me today and said he will pay for my investment if I order one to take pictures of a 20 acre plot so he can figure out where to put his drainage at....

I figured it may also help locate gator nesting sites on the property I manage in the future. Plus possibly expand into other consulting gigs I have going on. I just hope I don't sink the damn thing as we have lots of water out here.

Anyone else ever play with one?

Can't wait to hear your reports Ralph. I've always wondered how the operator knows the shot his camera is getting?
As far as I know, there's not a video feed coming from the drones, it's just recording.

I do know that you can run the Phantom while your smart phone or tablet is showing a live feed, it can also be maneuvered by the tablet if you want.

My selling point is this comes with a home button so if any trouble arises you hit the button and it automatically returns to the location it took off from. I am thinking any fail safe is a great thing while I am operating it.

    Ralph,

I do not own one but have several friends that use them at car shows to get aerial shots of the cars. Thought about getting one but there are so many of them available to me for photos, I just never pulled the trigger.

Well it arrived today so tomorrow I will act like its Christmas and put it all together...There's enough retirement parks in the area that I may try to buzz a few slow moving golf carts and folks on walkers for practice.

Well it only took me three weeks to give it a whirl :D but today I finally played with my toy, oh I meant business purchase to aid my consulting gig...This is pretty cool, it hauls ass at 35 mph and I went as high as 1,000 feet, under the 1675 maximum. I can see this actually becoming a great tool in the Ag sector....in my opinion the video is much better than still pics with optional 4K or 1080p but yours truly has no idea how to load video so it will have to wait.

I'm working on the lunkers, these things take time :p ......

The real cool thing is the amazing video, it's fantastic with quality I could have never guessed at...I'll keep working on the video uploading process but meanwhile here are a few I took this morning at the farm....
