I watched a show on the golf channel about the history of Whistling Straits, and Herb Kohler. It was pretty interesting.

That said...Dustin Johnson currently sits atop the leaderboard at -6. Good start for him. Now if he can remember to not ground his club on anything that remotely could be considered part of a sand trap....maybe he'll get a win in a major!! Of course Rory and Jordan might have a shot as well! :)

I know the landscaper that does Johnson's property in Jupiter, Fl. He says he is a really nice guy who grills him burgers and brings him beers after his crew finishes work.

Naturally, I wanted to know more about Paulina. My buddy told me that she never looks up from her phone. She texts non- stop.

Day was solid as a rock today. He and his wife Ellie live in Westerville, just a few miles from here.

That's interesting, so many of those guys live in Fla, AZ, Dallas, etc. Is his wife from the area?

Day starts the day with a lead and shoots a 67. Spieth was tough but Day was tougher. A well deserved win. But what a year Spieth had!

Yes, Lucas Oh, a very small farming community North of Columbus. She wants to remain close to her family, while the children are growing up and Westerville was a compromise per his bio.

I remember that Day had a tour bus for himself at Chambers Bay and they said yesterday that is his regular mode of transportation between tournaments. I assume it's a way of keeping close to his family. But it seems like unless he has a couple of drivers and they drive all night that making it between tournaments so he can do the Pro-Am's and Practice rounds is a little tight..time wise.

Pet Peeve, guys who think it's cool to try and time their manly shout of You da man or something like when the Pro hits his drive. I think the course marshalls should remove them if they can identify them.

    Terry re: your comment
    YOU DA MAN
How stupid is it when a pro hits his tee shot on a par 5 and some asshole yells "go in the hole!"

Big Week for Jason Day....but it's also a big week for my nephew Matt.

He and his HS teammate qualified again for the USGA Four Ball Finals. Last year was the 1st year of the event and it replaced the Publinx. It was played at Olympic Club in SF. This year he gets to go to Winged Foot.

But he also got invited to the Crump Cup, an elite Amateur Event played at Pine Valley, which some call the Worlds finest course. Golf Digest has it ranked #1 in the world.

George can you show him around the club? :)

I see that Tiger is playing in the Wyndham this week, it's his last gasp to get into the FedEx. You have to be in the top 125 to play in the Barclays. Tiger basically has to win to get in, the math says if he finishes solo 2nd he could get inside the top 125 as it is right now constituted But guys ahead of him could also score points raising that bar such that even solo 2nd won't do it for him.

Missing he cut at all 4 majors, and missing the FedEx Cup. Epic fail this year for Tiger. Can he right the ship? I wonder if he'll play in the PGA Tour events that are in the fall, sort of the before the real season gets going in January 2016. Or will he stay home and watch video of his various swings to try and figure out what he needs to do.

You know watching how hard Woods swings over the years, I have always wondered if his body would be able to take it. Day hits it a long way but he doesn't appear to swing as violently as Woods.
