Interesting, has been a huge influx of Chinese students to the Univ of Iowa. They are now nearly 10% of the student population.

It's changing the culture of Iowa City.

I wonder what attracted them to Iowa.

These schools often run scams that charge foreign students a ton of money and rich Chinese kids pay it to attend 'prestigious American universities.' I know the U of North Alabama has been doing this for years now. The kids are actually treated like ****, they are given an extra 'English Second Language' type of curriculum that effectively wastes an entire year of college.

I'm not saying that is going on here, but it is going on at a LOT of schools to generate revenue.

When I was in NYC last month I took my mother out to dinner at Peter Luger's s Steak House in Brooklyn. More than half the restaurant was Asian. Most were young adults. Luger's is very pricey and doesn't take credit cards. Apparently they are doing well in the tech and finance industry of the Big Apple.
We spent last night in Seattle. The directions in the trams at the airport are in English and Chinese. It was strange not hearing info in English and Spanish. The Asians seem to come to the US and even though they may not speak English originally they become successful. I've never heard one Asian whine about White Privilege.

Oh I have and it's a laugh riot....

Their parents are spending more money to send them to American colleges. They are equipped with the latest/greatest technology. They often live on campus or very close campus, which is always much more expensive. They are very cliquish and like to refer to themselves as 'People of Color.' The more Americanized they become, the more they hate America and try to relate to 'the plight of the black people.'.... Like I said, it's a laugh riot. I can't keep a straight face reading it.

Walking with my son a few years ago at his college orientation at UF I asked what's up with all the Aisans over there, he said those are the math students, I then asked what's with all the folks from India, he said oh, those are the engineering students...Its pretty common at all universities and yes they hang together and would make a KKK Grand Wizard envious with the inbuilt racism...

There are serious monetary rewards for the schools to encourage as many exchange students as possible...
