I see that Corey posted a link to a story about a situation in Alabama where the citizens were asked to leave, they were hurt and disappointed.

Now to tell you the truth, when I first read about this protecting the recruiting stations with armed citiziens, I thought...really this is not a good idea. I can appreciate the thought that they want to protect our men/women in uniform who can't carry weapons themselves. But really just looking at this image, if I'm a recruiter doesn't really make me feel safer.

Nice thought, but don't really need private citizens out front with rifles.

It's dangerous precedent. First of all, even if these guys are vets, they aren't all like George's son. (in shape, still well trained, level headed). Some of these guys have been outta the game for a long time, they are mad at what they see in America and they wanna get out there and get some bad guys Yeehaw.

Here's the deal though... If we say it is acceptable for hee haw to show up and protect our recruiting stations, then is it okay to say that people of non-Christian denominations and Atheists show up armed to protect people going to the movie theater from Christian nutballs.

It's the culture of fear that has just grown over the course of my lifetime. Starting with the Red Scare and the Cold War, mutually assured destruction, followed by Satanic lyrics, the war on drugs and pedophile day cares and now the war on terror. People are more afraid. Children have more limited upbringings which is a god damned shame in this day and age of accessible free knowledge.

The only thing that has really changed is that we have far less freedoms than the day I was born, we live in a police state where people are no longer afforded their constitutional right to trial anymore and are simply executed in the street for running.

There are monsters in the world, and they are on both sides of every issue profiting from your high blood pressure.
