It's no doubt the Jordan Spieth show, and with the way he closed out the John Deere after a bad 1st day and then winning in a playoff shows that he's ready for the challenge. The kid is so mentally tough.

Now about St. Andrews, I read that Tiger Woods says he doesn't even recognize it, no brown hard fairways, apparently they have had a lot of rain and the course is actually green and soft.

    Who's your top 5?

    Jordan Spieth
    Henrik Stenson
    Dustin Johnson
    Rickie Fowler
    Adam Scott.

I'd really like to see Jordan win, after him I'd like to see Dustin Johnson finally get one and then Rickie Fowler. That'd be the 3 I'd like to see win. Of the non-americans I'd like to see Adam Scott or Segio win.

FWIW Tiger is 20-1 to win. I'd have had him at 100-1.

Gotta take Spieth although there will be incredible pressure.
Kuchar is playing well and he has a major in him.
Fowler had finally shed his "most overrated" tag.
Mickelson like Watson raises his game at the Open.
Justin Rose is a lot like Dustin Johnson but he doesn't choke.

Speith continues to amaze me with his maturity and approach to the game. Jordan is a young man with his head on straight and refreshing at the same time. Absolutely amazing individual and great for golf!

    What a contrast in Jordans!

First you have DeAndre Jordan whose word isn't worth the paper it's written on. Then you have Jordan Speith who easily could have backed out of his commitment to the John Deere tournament but kept his commitment. He easily could have been in Scotland preparing for the Open.

Can Phil be exradited from Scotland? :) He might be a bit distracted right now...of course gambling is legal in the UK so he won't have to do shady deals to get his bets down.

BTW I'm assuming that Golf does have a "don't bet on golf" clause in it's player rules for the PGA, USGA, and R&A?

What about gambling in general, there were the rumors that Michael Jordan's brief retirement was mainly an option offered to him by the commish for his gambling activities. Either take a year off or we'll suspend you for a year.

Great piece, Stu. I'm on board. From here on, as far as I'm concerned, it's the British Open. :D

I hate to say this but we have a few.....er, snobs too. (Patriot/Red Sox types) who hosted the 1999 Ryder Cup at THE COUNTRY CLUB, in Brookline, Mass. If we can have THE country club, they can have THE Open.

Yeah Daily had some game at the time, still sometimes flashes it for a round or part of a round. But he's become a buffoon IMHO, I used to root for him to have one more magic tournament, the ultimate underdog. But after some of his antics on the course in tournaments I no longer root for him.

That photo they took the other day of the past champions at St.Andrews, all the guys showed up respectfully dressed for photo , except for Daily who was in some Clown Suit.

Crazy Stat of Day: Jordan Spieth and Tiger Woods have played 19 rounds in the same tournaments this year.

    Spieth is 110 strokes better.

What a tournamet...all the weather issues, huge 3rd round for Jordan Spieth putting him on the verge of a 3rd leg of the Slam, but the Amateur Willet is the real story...can the kid hold on? It's unprecedented.

Also watched the American Century Championship.

Mark Mulder won, he looks like he could still ptich, as does Eric Gagne who finished 2nd. Josh Scobee the Jag's kicker finished 3rd.
