This is a very well written, poignant story of a great rivalry in decline. Or is just transition. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/a...ast-of-the-yankees-red-sox-rivalry-at-fenway/
Great article! I think irate Red Sox/Yankee fans should question their front offices about who is wearing those uniforms. Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval were run out of the Nat West by their former teams: slovenly appearance, poor defense, lack of hustle etc... How in the world did the Sox believe they could make winners out of those guys?
The Sox are young and need to shed some of this older salary for a few hired guns. I disagree that the ARod ball swatting is some iconic moment in this series. At least for me, 2004's Tek punching ARod at home plate is the defining iconic moment of the modern rivalry. Both teams aren't in form and that happens. History has shown us that they're never down long and when they come back, they tend to stay there.
The Yankees are in an interesting place this year. They find themselves in first at the break when most predicted 4th or worse. They have gotten nothing from Sabathia who is clearly finished and Tanaka has pitched well but is as fragile. They are obviously trying to become younger again to re-tool as Corey suggests but now what. In a division of parity one or two players could make the difference. The Reds are rumored to be ready to gut their team.....
 :!:  re: Reds ready to gut the team Dodger moves could be interesting. They're rumored to be after starting pitching. The names are Johnny Cueto, Cole Hamels, Clay Bucholtz etc. The top of everyone's wish list is Aroldis Chapman. Now here's where things get really interesting; The Dodgers have great players to trade: Yasiel Puig, Jimmy Rollins......maybe even Greinke himself. They also have bullpen pitchers, players in the minors and Alex Guerrero, a 28 year-old Cuban who plays multiple positions and has 10 HRs off the bench. http://m.mlb.com/player/648717/alex-guerrero Maybe it's just me, but I think there's a possibility for several blockbuster trades here.. re: Cueto, Chapman. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-outside/story/cincinnati-reds-johnny-cueto-aroldis-chapman-trade-052215
