Teeing it up! I'm really looking forward to this game. I don't really care if they are over rated or whatever, it should be a dandy of a game!!
So far it's living up to the hype...both teams are pretty jacked up. Steve Slatons TD run really showed what kind of speed that kid has! Cards though have had to settle for FG's. 7-6 W.Virginny!
Pretty good game so far Terry. The result could have a big impact on the BCS standings. I'm rooting for Louiseville.
Terrific answer drive by WVa, Slaton and White are just impressive running the football. That move by Slaton what was that a basketball hop/step or jump/stop? Bill I think most fans of Texas/Notre Dame and Fla are rooting for Louisville. Although I don't think it'll make much difference who wins in the end. It might allow Texas to slip into the #3 slot with a big win or Louisville might jump over everybody into the #3 slot. I just think that if either of these teams go undefeated they will play in the NC game.
You might be right Tom. Both teams look great on offense, lots of speed all over on both offenses. I was surprised that Louisville tried to run it in on all three goaline plays, seems like the playaction on 2nd down like Herbie said would have been a good call.
ummm <t>I know that you don't want to hear this Terry but neither of these are top 5 teams. For Pete's sake, you and I are closer to those Louisville WRs than the West Virginia DBs.<br/> <br/> With all that speed, you would think they could stay in the same zipcode.</t>
Looks like neither team elected to bring their defenses tonight. This is like arena football. Tavern softball in pads. WVU has absolutely no defense. Louisville almost absolutely no "D". I think Quinn would throw for 750 yards and 8 TDs against either of these teams.
I actually agree with you that WVa esp has been over rated all season, but they are still a lot of fun to watch and as they showed vs Georgia in the Sugar Bowl last year if you don't come ready to play they will put some points up on your defense. Louisville will probably jump Fla with this win, they look impressive...I'm not saying that they would be a good SEC or B10 team, but they'd do well in the ACC or Big 12 this year. That Rutgers game is a big trap game for them, road game, facing good defense after a big emotional win. Terry
The pendulum is swinging back to the offenses. For a while there, teams were putting their speed guys on defense, and you saw a lot of dominating defenses. The last few years it seems they are swinging them back to offense. Both teams coulld have better defenses if they put some of that speed on the D side. I agree with Corey tho, in that neither really looks like a top 5 team. At least what I've come to expect from a true top 5... Then again, that 112th ranked defense doesn't really put Texas in good standing, does it? 8)
 Over a thousand yards of offense in this game. WVU's "Heisman" candidate fumbled the game away a couple of times and then took himself out with a sore arm rather than embarrass himself further... Why were either of these teams in the Top 10? I hope Rutgers runs the table...
I did not watch the game, but was a bit surprised that the Cardinals were so strong thru the air. Slanton probably not feeling too good this morning. Now we will see what happens next Thursday against Rutgers! Don
New Jersey has Rutgers Fever after decades of hiding them in the attic from all visitors. Buses are covered with Rutgers football ads, billboards everywhere. When I go down to my place in Florida next weekend I'll see Rutgers football billboards all over I-95 and the Florida Turnpike as well with a grim faced Tony Soprano "suggesting" you watch Rutgers football. Schiano is a god at the moment... if he leaves for Miami you'll be able to hear a pin drop in the Garden State.
From a wishful Gator fan's standpoint I would like to say that L'ville hasn't really played a schedule worthy of BCS NC consideration. However, I thought coming in that WVa was a pretty damned good team that was taking care of business and also I see that L'ville played at KST and of course destroyed Miami at home. That said....could they run a gauntlet of Tenn on the road, Bama and LSU at home and then go on the road again and beat Al Ford and Auburn on a Sat night on ESPN....highly doubtful they could do all of those things. The "breathers" with Georgia and FSU in Tallahassee not to mention a tangle with a resurgent Vandy on the road and then trying to hold off the ole ball coach bent on making a good showing seem as worthy as a game with S. Florida and Syracuse wouldn't you think? I just think Mark May is an ESPN shrill when he can so adamantly say the Cards would deserve the BC NC over a one-loss Florida given the schedule comparisons. However.....a one loss Florida is much easier said than done...
If that were true about the guantlet that SEC teams face, then every year after facing that gauntlet they would absolutely kill the opposition in the Bowls. But that doesn't happen, in fact sometimes after facing that Gauntlet some of the better SEC teams get beat in bowls or have to struggle with inferior teams who have not had to play the level of competition that the SEC teams have had to play. SEC plays great football don't get me wrong, but other teams play tough schedules as well.
I'm probably going to pay for this comment when one of these teams kicks my team's a@@, but while I was watching this game I kept asking myself "where is the tackling"... It struck me that I felt like I was watching the Friday night high school highlights on the local news channel...sorry, that sounds really obnoxious but the thought really did cross my mind.
Ditto Stu.....as I was watching my observation were excellent offenses, no defense. I've gotta believe you've got to be able to play a little defense to compete for the national title. Those are not championship caliber defenses....I was thinking that if the Buckeye offense got on the field with either of those defenses, they'd have to add another digit to the scoreboard. That said, they both would still qualify for MCG's "gauntlet" of "top 31" defenses! I hope I didn't just jinx us big time! The match-up with Rutgers will be interesting....it looks like Rutgers can play a little better defense.
I don't know, I just enjoyed the heck out of that game. I love the way Pat White plays football, I felt bad for Steve Slaton, that guy is a great college running back. In some ways it reminds me of the USC/Texas game last year in that the offenses dominated, and I doubt if you Ohio State guys would say that the 2005 Texas Longhorns couldn't tackle would you? Terry
