Uribe and Withrow for Braves Callapso, and 3 pitchers Stults, Thomas and Jaime. I guess the Dodgers really need pitching. On the home front, a lot of people think that the Astro's should be a big player at the trade deadline to add another rent a player in the form of a starting pitcher. I'm not so sure, we are a very young team, and have some excellent prospects in the minors. I'd hate to see them start the process of gutting the young talent for a 1 time player. The rationale is of course if you have a legit shot to win your division and maybe the League you have to do whatever you can do to make that happen. You don't know what the future holds. I'm not buying that this year.
  This was a trade of guys who no longer fit into the plans of either club. Uribe is a wonderful player who, at age 36, had already lost his position to Turner, who batted .340 last season. I hate to lose a flamethrower like Withrow, but he's 26 and coming off Tommy John surgery, as well as spine surgery... The Braves players all have similar stories. Callaspo was going to be cut if he couldn't be traded, and the pitchers are all trade bait. Stults, for example, came up with the Dodgers and he's 35 now. The others have already been farmed out. What this trade is about is clearing salary and dangling pitchers out there for teams who're desperate to win now. (Like Houston.) So how many pitchers do you want? The Dodgers have been stock piling them on different levels since Spring Training. How about Stults and five young heaters for Altuve?
