It's an embarrassment to the school. ND banned them for several years from coming to South Bend. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/05/1...m-road-games-next-season-because-misbehavior/
Guess they are taking a lesson from Ohio State, although the Stanford band doesn't compare musically. VA
Stanford Band banned from road games, I'm shocked I tell you I'm shocked. As an organization they like to push the edge and they love to offend people who, are in their opinion, on the wrong side of some social issue. I won't miss them.
The investigation by the school turned up evidence of alcohol, drugs and sexual harassment! Lions, and tigers and bears......oh my!
I remember the Ohio State dust up when they fired the band director, but I also remember more than a few of the band members saying that they didn't agree with the University. What was the eventual outcome?
He appealed to get his job back...with the support of the Band Alumni Association...and lost. Now he is suing the University. I don't know what was really going on...different perspectives if you read the investigative report vs. the testimony of former band members. Did it amount to a bunch of sexual harassment and hazing? Or was it just college kids doing some drinking and using sexual innuendo (shocking, right?) College administrations are very sensitive about charges of failure to act or investigate sexual harassment/assault type issues right now I certainly doubt that the director had much to do with it...but the buck stops you-know-where. It certainly was bad publicity for a very proud organization.
I think Stau has addressed your question admirably. I think the new President acted a wee bit quickly and it may ultimately cost them a handsome sum!
The UW Madison prez said there were two people he would never fire - the football coach and the band director.
