Lol,.....Stu its a good thing to see that you have purged this from your memory, especially since 1973 was just the other day....

And remember I am already scarred due to my allegiance to the Hurricanes...

There is a lot of wisdom coming from the Ohio St. and Purdue fan base today, you are exactly right Don.

Terry that is an interesting graphic, I am surprised Georgia did so well especially compared to Texas and California who are always so loaded with talent.

My fantasy wish is all the talent in Florida would always stay in Florida to play ball. I'm not greedy or selfish, really I'm not.... 8)

People in Texas are talking that the great Louisville draft this year was all Charlie Strong guys, and most of them from Fla. He's already pulled a few kids out of Fla and with the numbers he'll have to choose from at Texas ...good things could be brewing in Austin.

I personally don't see how Texas cannot be on the way up with Charley at the helm, he will return them to a powerhouse. Texas only problem is Texas itself and the powerful alumni with the patience of a gnat....If he can overcome that on a daily basis he will push Saban into convulsions with the amount of talent he collects. The hidden danger in this era of Texas football is the other in-state schools and the in-roads they have made in recruiting talent.

Charlie seems to be just what the 'horns need.

We'll see how that translates to the field but he certainly did do that at Louisville.

Saban's life has gotten to be much more stressful lately.... especially when it comes to recruiting.

Muschamp at Auburn, guys like Strong and Meyer competing nationally for players and Jimbo over to his immediate east.

Not to mention the way the last two seasons have ended in bitter disappointment.

Cheer up Nicky..... you could be a Gator fan.....

    I'm curious about "the process".

    Enlighten me.

The "process" measures performance against perfection, not opponents. If every player, coach and himself does his job correctly the results will take care of itself. This has been central to Saban's approach since before he came to Alabama. 8)

That approach does work well obviously.

I do think things are getting tougher for the Tide though.

Nick may have to reach into the coaching tricks bag for something extra.

Nine Bama starters returning.... only 2 on offense.

    That's a challenge.

I don't know that things are getting tougher for the Tide, no matter how good your coach is, and how much talent he has...it still takes a little luck to win a Nat'l Championship. I mean how unlucky was it to have 107 yd FG return for a TD against you in the SEC Championship game.

How long did the Bear have to coach to win his Nat'l Titles? A pretty long time.

Of course at the time I thought that Auburn loss was the fluke loss for the ages and no doubt in my mind Saban would have another NC except for that one play.

Auburn did give a very good account of themselves vs. FSU so that's one reason I think Bama would have beaten the noles.

Ohio State was hot.... and lucky to have a 3rd string Qb as good as Jones was.... very lucky.

But.... Meyer was on one of his missions and process or no process he is tough to beat in that circumstance.

    He's still around.....

And now Muschamp is at Auburn on defense to cause all kinds of trouble for a Bama offense with only two returning starters.

This is a tough 4 week stretch for a new offense:

    at Ga.
    Ark
    at Tex A&M
    Tenn

Ole Miss and LSU dot the schedule and there's a game at Auburn to end the year.

Seems a bit testy to me.

Maybe Bama was lucky that they didn't have to face the top OSU QBs.

Hey y'all, I know you are enjoying this and these things do run in cycles. Alabama was not as dominant as y'all thought they were...ever. I tried to tell you that but you made fun of me. It always takes luck to win an NC. All you can do is put yourself in position to capitalize on that luck. Alabama did that last year by making the playoffs. This year will be a challenge. Whoever is the QB is he will never have started a college game (unless it's Golson lol), but our defense should be very good. We'll see. 8)

Truer words never were spoken Kp! I am just trying to enjoy what happened to the Buckeyes this past season. We probably will be favored to start the season this fall, but a number of things can happen before January 2016.

Hey Coach Meyer just lost his appendix.

Come on man, this is why I love college football. Who knows what is going to happen. Every year there is a turnover of players. 18 - 22 year old players. Who knows what they will do. If winning was a sure thing it would get boring quickly. Gotta love it!!! :D

I agree Kp..... the anticipation and uncertainty is always fun and then sometimes when your team exceeds expectations that makes it even more fun.

When your team fails miserably to meet expectations it is pretty painful ( trust me :D )

Winning the conference title and playing in the playoffs is meeting expectations pretty damned well in spite of the loss at the end.
