Some people feel that the death penalty is too extreme because some people just didn't have a chance to turn out moral and humane as their more fortunate brethren did and therefore are not responsible for their actions. I agree it's extremely unfortunate.... but in some cases the damage is done and rehabilitation and second chances are no longer appropriate. So very tragic for the victims of horrible parenting and abuse but count them as victims as well and ensure that it stops with them..... and don't let second chances create more victims down the road.
Well one thing for certain is that either way they should never be out in society again. Life without parole or the death penalty. I thought it interesting that Urban Meyer said he warned Bellichek about Hernandez before the draft. There are some players in this years draft who have some big character issues over their heads. 1. Neb LB Randy Gregory who failed the idiot test and tested positive for weed at the combine, frankly admitted he liked weed and smoked it a lot when he was at Neb. He was a likely 1st round pick but now would you take him knowing that he loves weed, he's a candidate for multiple suspensions down the road in the NFL. 2. Dorial Green-Beckham Missouri WR who has had problems with violence against women. Very talented, but do you want a Ray Rice situation in your future? 3. La'el Collins OT LSU Police want to talk to him with regards to the shooting of his girlfriend who was pregnant. Not a suspect, right now. Face it do you want a guy in this situation. Face it, a high percentage of time that a guys girlfriend is shot, it's the boyfriend who did it. Not 100% but that's where you look first, boyfriend, ex-boyfriend, family, other friends. Most people are killed by somebody they know.
Watched a draft show on ESPN featuring Jon Gruden and Mel Kiper discussing all the possibilities. My hometown team here TB has a shot at Winston if they want him..... but do they want him? My guess is that he probably will turn out Cam Newton style in the NFL and hold his character in check. But those 28 ints and the way he coughed up the ball under pressure vs. a fierce UF pass rush and pressure from Oregon at the end of the season would have me picking MM instead if I were picking.
Has any QB from a college spread offense ever made it big in the NFL? That seems to be the worry about Mariota.
Gruden made a lot of sense about why that concern about Mariotta is just bunk. Said he makes the quick reads and decisions plus his 4.5 speed is special at the QB position. I always like a Qbs potential to run when he plays on a lousy team like Tampa. A statue back there gets killed and traumatized when he plays for a bad team in the NFL.
 I also watched the Gruden/Kiper presentation. My impression was that Gruden was right about everything and Kiper was out of his depth. Gruden could cite chapter and verse about why he held each opinion, while Kiper had nothing. As I often tell my students, "opinions are like belly-buttons: everyone has one." The point being that they must present evidence too and I think Gruden does that.
I agree on Gruden vs. Kiper. Kiper seems to just pass along hearsay and media opinion whereas that doesn't mean squat to Gruden. He bases his opinions on his deep knowledge of the game.
