In a speech he suggested that all young people had better educate themselves or they'll be stuck in Iraq. Great moment of inspiration for our troops from the "war hero". Here is John McCain's response: FLASH: McCain Calls On Kerry To Apologize Tue Oct 31 2006 11:43:14 ET Senator Kerry owes an apology to the many thousands of Americans serving in Iraq, who answered their country's call because they are patriots and not because of any deficiencies in their education. Americans from all backgrounds, well off and less fortunate, with high school diplomas and graduate degrees, take seriously their duty to our country, and risk their lives today to defend the rest of us in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. They all deserve our respect and deepest gratitude for their service. The suggestion that only the least educated Americans would agree to serve in the military and fight in Iraq, is an insult to every soldier serving in combat, and should deeply offend any American with an ounce of appreciation for what they suffer and risk so that the rest of us can sleep more comfortably at night. Without them, we wouldn't live in a country where people securely possess all their God-given rights, including the right to express insensitive, ill-considered and uninformed remarks. END
Right you are George. This guy is a real jerk. I think the only hope for the Republicans in 08 is if the they nominate this guy. PJ in Jersey
I do think his comment WAS aimed at W - playing off W's commencement speech where he made some sort of comment about "being an average student and eventually becoming POTUS". here's the quote: Remember, it came on the heels of 2-3 other anti-Bush jokes (and remember, it was a campaign rally, not a commencement speech): "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." W had made a speech where he poked fun at his own educational malaise, and then became president. Thirty + years ago, when there was a draft, folks stayed in school to avaoid the draft. He botched the not-to-funny joke. People are making a big deal out of nothing.
Democratic candidates are asking Kerry NOT to show up at rallys for them. That's how "nothing" this is. The guy is a stooge. The silver lining here is that his political ambitions are null and void. Of course, he can retain his seat in Massachusetts because those folks have proven for decades that they will tolerate any level of stupidity and disingenuousness.
It was a stupid remark, and he should apologize and that should be the end of that. If the people in Taxachusetts want him as their senator then that's their business. He doesn't belong in the national political scene though.
Maybe Clinton...... <t>But he is just a flat out liar but whay should anyone be surprised at this left wing ingrate's remarks.</t>
You beat me to the picture Terry. And the answer to the question is no! I certainly don't know of a bigger ass. But hey, I hope he continues around the country blaming everybody and everything but himself for sticking his foot in his mouth. In fact I think he stuck both feet in his mouth.
Nobody riles me more than Kerry...he is sanctimonious and insufferable. However, having said that, I agree with Tailback that he was talking about "you end up like GW" and he botched it...but TB, I don't think it's a "big deal about nothing." It frosts me anyway...it is incredibly disrespectful (go figure) even if he meant it that way...it calls into question the intelligence of anybody who disagrees with Kerry or feels that there is some justification for what we are trying to accomplish in Iraq. Then instead of apologizing for saying something stupid and that he did not mean it the way it came out (like George Allen did) he's gotta make it worse (better) by even being more sanctimonious about it. And we can still get political miles out of it.
Stu.. <t>My often used line for the morons of the world like John Kerry is they are classic Louisville Slugger material.</t>
8) Kerry, like Jimma Carter, is the gift that keeps on giving. He continues to call GW stupid and a moron, even though its a matter of public record that they attended the same college and GW had higher grades...
