Little River Raceway just south of Temple Texas: We are not in love with this drag strip but it is the only game in town (within 120 mile at least). Cindy got her first racing experience with the Hellcat Charger and you couldn't wipe the grin off her face with Ajax and steel wool. 8) I on the other hand participated in the Ford vs Chevy shootout from 9pm until 11pm. Equal numbers of Fords and Chevys started the event. I had the honor of drop kicking the first Chevy out of the contest on the 1st run of round 1. I also had the pleasure of kicking the last Chevy off the track in round 3. Round 4 had 5 cars left... all Fords. Round 5 had 3 Fords left with me getting the Bye run. I red lighted in the final round by 0.016 seconds meaning I took 2nd place.
I've figured it out... Tom is really Bruce Wayne, which makes him Batman. It's the only explanation for all his "Wonderful toys"... 8)
Funny you should say that Scott. Just last night, I had a online meeting with my sales guy in Singapore. I use a second computer to allow me to see exactly what everyone else sees while I lead the meeting. I sign in as Tom McCord on my first computer and my second entry into the meeting is given some random name. Last night, that entry was "Batman". The sales guy entered the meeting to say "Batman is in here???" 8)
Got my game back 100% now. Drag racing critical components: 1) car that runs consistent times 2) driver that has the best reaction time My reaction time through 3 rounds last night: 0.0532 seconds 0.0580 seconds 0.0556 seconds Last night was FUN!!!
Tom It's time to upgrade. You have to get some state of the art equipment. Here's a video smuggled out of a hidden test track in Europe. You gotta get one of these. https://grrc.goodwood.com/festival-of-speed/latest/video-legendary-28-litre-fiat-s76-driven-for-the-first-time-in-100-years#fkJCJxsmH4xB5x0V.97
Saw that video about a month ago I think. Slowest car in my stable would be two laps ahead of that turtle by the time it got to turn 3 on lap 1 at Talladega. 8) Both the Shelby and Hellcat are capable of 200+ mph so that would be more like 4 laps ahead. 8) 8) 8)
Now, if we are talking about drag racing (my specialty), the Shelby or the Hellcat would be at the finish line of a 1/4 mile track before that chain driven turtle got to the 60 foot line (if it got there at all after snapping a chain trying to launch). 8) 8) 8)
I've always wondered about why many hot rods get paint jobs that show flames... now I know the reason. But I don't know why flames are coming out of that exhaust, they don't come out in modern cars, or really and car that I know of in my lifetime. What was it about those old cars that resulted in flames? Must have to fill that thing back up with oil pretty often given the smoke as well.
Terry, Check out the top fuel class of dragsters - you will see flames there. Cars like the one in gips video had straight exhaust very close to the cyliders. The.flames are from an excess of fuel that didnt completely burn before the exhaust valve opened. Modern cars self monitor and adjust fuel/spark to make sure this doesn't happen, but if it did you still have a long path through pipes.and catalytic converters for the fuel to finish burning.
... or in the case of a friend's viper which no longer has cats and the mufflers don't muffle much, flames shoot out the back when he decelerates from 180 in 5th gear. He hardly ever uses 6th.
