Purdue had Cincy essentially beat...and then allowed it to get away. Cincy rolls in a miracle to go to OT (man, that ball took forever to decide whether to roll in or out) and then wins the OT by one. Got 12 right but my bracket will be hurt by how far I took Iowa State...I had them in the Elite Eight.
Was with my son last Sat. night while he was playing a solo acoustic singing gig at a bar called Irish 31. Met a girl who had just graduated from Iowa State and she was the mascot.... The "Cyclone" at all of their games so for sure she was cheering them on vs. Kansas in the Big 12 tourney so of course.... the dumb gambler in me decides that's an omen.... I sure as hell have to take Iowa State out a long way in all of my brackets... ..... thank God I don't gamble anymore
I had both LSU and Ole Miss and I am burned again by the SEC!! I had Purdue as well. There were an incredible number of buzzer beating wins yesterday.
The likel;y future of big time college sports. http://nypost.com/2015/03/20/the-re...&utm_source=NYPFacebook&utm_medium=SocialFlow
I'm sure the President of the Univ of Kentucky will contest that article vigorously. But I did think it is telling when in an interview with Coach K, he was asked why after so many years refusing to take 1 and done's he now takes them. He replied basically we decided to take them because our opponents were taking them and beating us with them. Those were not his exact words but that's what I took away from them. Duke has 2 or 3 1 and dones in Okafor, Tyus Jones and Justice Winslow. DUKE!! A prestigious academic institution. I thnk most college basketball fans agree that we need a change in the rules. Something like what baseball has, enroll in college and you can't go to the NBA for 3 years. It would benefit the kids as well as college basketball. That 30 on 30 about Christian Laetner really showed us what college basketball used to be like. The kids who don't want to go to college can go to the NBA or to Europe and play in the pro's.
Dayton the only upset yesterday...who has them going to the Final Four other than Krebs! Chris Ryckman takes the lead!
I had Iowa State going deep also so that part of my bracket is hurt. I see that CBS has record viewing. I am having trouble being as interested this year. The Gators not being there is most of that, but the whole situation with Kentucky is also part of the equation. I just don't see them getting beat. The only way that players will have to stay in school longer is if the NBA passes similar rules to Baseball and Football. Making freshmen ineligible does not seem like a realistic solution to me. Well the wife is calling to get out in the yard and get something done as it is a beautiful day here.
   UCLA.... moves on to sweet sixteen,,,,,, guess that may quiet the unbelievers Now for the Irish to win tonight
Xavier makes the Sweet 16 will play Arizona ... Sean Miller the Arizona coach was the Xavier coach, Chris Mack the current Xavier coach was his assistant and Miller was Thad Matta's Asst. Some pretty good coaches have come through Xavier. Sid ...what is your new avatar?
Terry, it's recycled from past women's BB tournament runs. It's the Golden Dome backboard and rim with Our Lady on top.
for all the dickheads and their algorithms, the bottom line is that Kentucky is incredibly talented and they play great basketball in the ACC and Pac12. How is this news?
Big win for Irish and on to the Sweet 16, Butler was a gritty team and played in your face defense. Rosey Jones the most unorthodox player I have ever seen, but effective!! Irish though are driving me to drink...I needed a double tonight.
ND <t>This was a real nail biter as they say. Butler just wouldn't go away. Great for The Irish and ND. Been a long time since they were in a sweet 16.</t>
Michigan State gives the ACC it's first loss...takes down #2 seed UVA. Tom Izzo always seems to be ready at tournament time. This year MSU made it all the way to the B1G Championship and now to the Sweet 16 and like UCLA they struggled early in the season.
