I feel sorry for the Chicago kids but what is LL Baseball supposed to do? The adults who ran that league cheated to win the US title. Conversely, I'm sure the Nevada kids are taking their new championship with a grain of salt.
I just saw a snippet of the press conference on the noon news. I understand the disappointment of the parents and kids, but why parade the kids in front of the TV cameras? It will not change what happened. It's irresponsible to protest the blatantly dishonest conduct of the perpetrators. It makes the victims look bad. Of course, Rev. Jesse was standing there front and center. He doesn't care about the facts. He's just taking advantage of the photo op.
I have not heard any of the interested parties suggest that they are innocent of the charges. If they did, I missed it. But they all say that they have been punished becuase of race. Nonsense.
Because, at the heart of it, they don't give a **** about the kids. They used those kids to gain a competitive advantage. They are using those kids now to try to gain sympathy and detract from their own actions. Don't you dare tell me that those parents didn't know those kids were from another area. You've all done little league. You all know when there's a new kid in town. ESPN was doing a report that had quotes from their coach the previous year, in which they came up short, that they were "just a few players away.." I can't speak with absolute authority about a lot of districts in the US, but I can speak about the SoCal Districts. If you were to allow them to do what this team just did, you could put together an all-star team of kids from Illinois that could not compete with a dozen different teams from SoCal who just 'needed one or two' more players. I'm quite sure the same could be said about places like Texas, Louisiana, Florida etc.. They cheated, and they exploited their children just as they are continuing to do. Shame on them. I hope their children grow wise enough to see what the Pride and Greed of the adults around them really gained them in the end.
groan...this is going to become a big racist deal now. The "community' activists are becoming engaged, calls for investigations into Little League...excuses like JRW is being held to higher standard because they are black, that other teams around the country do just what JRW did and didn't get punished...they were white. Where's Al Sharpton been on this?
