Missed that Stu! Should have been "Bricks"... The motto of this recruiting year has been "One Brick at a time" in rebuilding the Tennessee program. If interested, the feed is open to anyone: http://www.utsports.com/signingday/
Yes you have to give Butch Jones a lot of credit, on the recruiting front he has worked very hard and brought in a lot of talent.
Been working and 3 more slipped through: #28 Eli Wolf TE 6-4 205 Minster, Ohio Not Ranked #29 Laszlo Toser K 5-9 185 Ooltewah, Tenn. Not Ranked #30 Tommy Townsend P 6-1 168 Orlando, Fla. 3 star
This seems certain to be paying dividends real soon: http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncfrecruiting/on-the-trail/post/_/id/66627/vols-looking-to-translate-recruiting-wins-into-on-field-success UF has enjoyed quite a run of success vs. the Vols in the past 20 years or so and of course in the past 10 years... winning all of em. Now I have to feel the run will be over soon..... much like the long run over Georgia ended. I'm not sure who Tenn would rather beat on their schedule but I have to feel UF is absolutely in the top 3 along with Bama and Georgia. Well..... I'll bet it starts sooner than later.
I must not be the only Gator fan that sees the real improvement that Tenn has made in the last 2-3 years: http://forum.gatorsports.com/topic/33428-i-wish-the-tennessee-streak-had-ended-last-year/ I can see the writing on the wall even if several Gator fan posters responding to the original post don't want to admit it. For the next couple of years anyway I think the Vols have the decided upperhand and they would have have played that hand last season had they know about that QB who came on so strong later in the season. Oh well.... bound to happen.... and we might as well get it ( a loss to the Vols ) out of our system this coming season when the college football playoff is likely not on the line for UF anyway.
Support for my theory of doom: http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/98311/sec-pre-spring-position-rankings-qb Tenn's Josh Dobbs comes in at #2 on this ranking of returning SEC Qbs. That's a good indication that the Qb position in Knoxville will perform pretty well this season.
In football these days you live and die with the QB. About the only time you can do with average at the QB position is if you have the '85 Bears defense.
Did you see the HBO sports special segment on the 1985 Bears and how tragically many of them have ended up. Early deaths, suicide, drug dependency, concussion syndrome, early onset Alzheimers and many of them are functional physical cripples. It was one of the saddest stories I have ever watched. They asked Mike Ditka at the end what he thought. He said he had an eight year old grandson and that he hoped he wouldn't play football.
