McKinney was a big loss, we need safety's and the kid is a good player who would have fit in, but his academics were just a no go for ND unfortunately. He wanted to come, and didn't flip to UNC because he liked it there better, but they will take his academics. We are scrambling to replace him in the class, as we really need safety's.
ND got in late on Dee Smith, but I know the offer at least made him consider taking the trip to South Bend. He's solid for Louisville, but I can't help but think ND could flip him with a big push. I just don't think he believes they're that serious about him.
Irish seems to be pulling names out a hat for safety targets. I'll bet we end up with the St. Brown kid and the Williams kid (RB from Fla) and nary a safety ...
ND <t>Looks like the coaching staff is putting on a full court press in south Bend this weekend to land the safety Reid</t>
Ugh...reports are now out there that Van Gorder is talking to Jack Del Rio about the Raiders DCooord job. http://justblogbaby.com/2015/01/23/brian-vangorder-may-targeted-raiders-dc-job/
Interesting but not esp meaningful... Five of Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly's former college players are on the 2015 Pro Bowl roster, the most of of any college football coach. http://notredame.247sports.com/Bolt/Five-Former-Players-Of-Brian-Kelly-On-Pro-Bowl-Roster-34967792
Yesterday's OT win at NC State showed this team's refuse-to-lose mentality. I hope the football team was watching and taking notes.
Can any of you guys play safety? Safety Eilar Hardy of the Irish is transferring out due to poor grades.
Not poor grades, he's actually graduating this May and will use that graduate exemption to play right away somewhere else. He was of course one of the kids caught up in the frozen four deal, he was able to return to the field at the end of the investigation and play in the last 4 games and the bowl game. The other players were given 1 year suspensions and chose to disenroll for the fall and not enroll for the spring, those counting as their 1 year penalty. Hardy chose to finish the fall and graduate and move on. But he'll have his degree and play somewhere else. We are really hurting at safety. The loss of Nick Barratti is really big. He's reportedly trying hard to rehab, but given his history most think he'll never make it back on the field.
That was a great win for ND. Really great game to watch as well, Duke ultimately lost it at the foul line. That kid Okafor is an incredible talent, but he's only a 58% foul shooter and that hurt him tonight. I thought Tyus Jones was never going to miss for Duke. I cringed at the end when Beecham missed his chippy break away layup and then followed that by bricking his two foul shots, but we held on...that block by Grant at the end was amazing. This team is so different than that Duke team, which is loaded with McDonalds AA's and who are freshmen and sophs, the Irish are almost built like a mid-major, lots of upper classmen. Grant, Connaughton, Auguste, etc, and a nice mix of young players.
GO IRISH..... GREAT WIN OVER DUKE ......I was a little concerned with 7 min left but hey the last 4 games they were down and came back......... I love this team..... they are all such team players.
I see Everitt Golson posted some kind of cryptic message on Twitter and Irish fans are in a panic. I guess he must be threatening to return 8)
My nephew says that per his AD, Dexter Williams is going to sign with ND. Jalen Julius is choosing between Miss. State and Louisville. Another West Orange recruit, a DE, is going to sign with IU. Like I said he was told this by his AD, not the kids themselves, so it's second hand info. I'm just passing it on.
