Mike Bobo to Colorado State. I guess they figure they'll strike it rich twice in a row with SEC Coordinators.
A description of Florida's new OC hired from the Michigan staff: "Nussmeier's Michigan stint could only be called a disaster, given that U-M dropped from 32 points per game the previous year under Al Borges to just 20.9 under Nussmeier. Though the offensive line and running game improved slightly, this was one of the two worst offensive seasons in the past 30 at U-M, joining 2008" .... uh.... ok
I'm sure he'd like to forget last year! 'Bama had pretty good offenses under him though...do you Gators have Bama level talent?
Well.... ok then: "After the 2011 season, Nussmeier got the call from Nick Saban to replace McElwain as Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2012. In his first season with the Tide, Nussmeier’s offense led the nation in passing efficiency and set school records for touchdowns, passing touchdowns, points and total offense. For the first time in school history, the Tide both rushed and passed for 3,000-plus in a single season en route to winning the national championship"
Terry..... to my knowledge there are no Eddie Lacys or Trent Richardsons but we have some good running backs. Under Muschamp the QB talent has just been plain diluted and convoluted. There are absolutely no Julio Jones or Amari Coopers though and I'm quite certain this year's UF OL is more 2014 Vandy than Bama 2011/12.
Of lesser importance in the big picture but of some interest to ND folks, Tommy Rees is starting his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Northwestern, where his father started his coaching career. http://bleacherreport.com/tb/dfF6n?...m=newsletter&utm_campaign=notre-dame-football
Good luck to him, I hope he's very successful and maybe someday he can return to ND as the Head Coach. That would be nice.
Rumors are now that John Chavis will in fact be leaving LSU for Texas A&M, earlier it was reported that he signed an extension with a big raise at LSU but apparently not. He's certainly had some excellent defenses at LSU and he knows the SEC and esp the SEC West so I'd say that would be a win for Sumlin.
Holy Crap A&M is paying John Chavis 1.7M/yr to be their DCoord...I hope Aggie Cigars are not being hurt by the dip in Oil.
Miles in the post game press conference seemed to be talking about him in the past tense and was very angry about it. He didn't come to LSU to lose talent to anyone else because they were out spent. On the bus, he looked despondent.
Well Chavis is in the house, but still no news conference to announce it. Rumor says Sumlin want's to announce all the coaches at once and that he has another home run at WR coach to go along with the DC hire. Not sure who that could be, but excited to have a chance at the return of the Wreckin' Crew!
Here's a question for Bobda. If Hoke beats Maryland and Rutgers would Harbaugh be the coach at Michigan today? 7-5?
Randy Shannon to the Gators as Co-DCoord. That's an interesting hire, Shannon certainly has some credibility with regards to recruiting S.Fla and as a DCoord.
Hopefully he can help McElwain make up some lost ground in the next 2-3 weeks. Maybe his nickname will become "Flipper"..... 8)
To say that Shannon has a checkered past is an understatement. I often wonder how a guy so deep and complicit in all the wrongs that went on at Miami during their dark days has received such a pass in the coaching profession. He's a very good defensive coach and I championed him myself for a while. Then, I read the reports of exactly WHO Shannon the player and Shannon the young coach was and I've had doubts ever since. He'll recruit Miami well. He'll coach defense well. Mac better keep an eye on that dude.
Jim Mora is being reported as interviewing for the Jet's job. Think maybe he see's Sark and a recruiting machine across town as too much to overcome?
Mora, like Harbaugh, has been rumored to have one foot out the door since he arrived. The dude can recruit with anyone, including USC, but man.. he's a dick.
