Current Skybox Rankings on 247 Sports which is a composite ranking.

    1. Alabama...natch.
    4. Ohio State ...Urban as always a relentless and tireless recruiter.
    5. Tenn...Butch Jones has really been bring in the talent to Tenn
    7. Texas A&M...lost a big one in Dylon Mack but picked up a 5* WR
    11. Notre Dame..picked up a S, currently though a lot of hand wringing around the internet on the program and recruiting. Seems like all our top remaining targets are going to USC.
    13 UCLA
    14. Texas ....just picked up 2 big prospects in Malik Jefferson and DeAndre McNeal...and I'm betting that Dylon Mack will be joinging the Strong Bunch soon. The tide is slowly turning in Texas. After we beat the Hogs I think we'll finish STRONG and then it's game on.

    19. Miami
    33. Wazzu
    36. Arizona
    39 Nebraska
    55. Purdue
    76. Florida...shocking to see the Gators this low, even with a coaching change.
    89. Michigan..even more shocking. Historic low for the Wolverines. If Harbaugh comes in Jan I'd expect them to close very fast and move up the ranks quickly though.

Believe it or not, I spent a lot of time on farm land as a child. I kinda miss it to tell the truth. Since they're blowing up my neighborhood to make room for the new high school in this part of town, I am missing it even more. I hate living in construction areas.

As for the 'Horns/Hogs game, I can see Texas pulling it off. At the same time, the Horns are gonna need some QB play. That's what you need to beat Arkansas. If you don't have it, they'll grind you up.

I found this photo of young Corey working the O'Connor family spread back in the 70's.

If you wanted to eat, you were expected to do the chores.

I hate the smell of cows. If you've ever lived around a dairy farm, you know what I'm talking about here. Goats are assholes and chickens are the worst.

    Ditto what Corey said.
Nothing is worse than a big chicken farm.
There was one on the road between College Station and I45 when I was in school.
Hated that part of the drive if the wind was blowing the wrong way!

LSU DCoord just got a big contract extension which takes him out of the A&M job list and probably means that Les Miles is serious about staying at LSU and not going to Michigan..even as a backup if Harbaugh decides to stay in the NFL.

Scott what names are being bandied about on A&M boards for your coaching staff? Has to be hurting recruiting to have so many openings right now.

Not sure it will bump us up any, but my folks thinks Mack will be back on board with the Aggies once he meets Chavis during the official visit he scheduled for later this month.

Might get D Lodge away from Gaylor... if we hire a WR coach he likes.
We sure could have used K Sheffield, but not too surprised he chose the Tide.

Be glad Jefferson's parents are such staunch fans of the Orange... He won't go against Momma or we'd make another run at him.

Oh, I never put too much stock in the star ratings... I've seen them inflated over and over for certain schools too many times to buy into that across the board.

But Daylon Mack has proven he's a true stud, and we need defensive help pronto.

    I want that kid back!

What have we got to go until signing day? 3 or 4 weeks. That gives me 3 weeks or so until I pay any attention to this stuff. We need WR's, DB's and OL's. I trust Saban and the coaching staff to get kids with the right stuff.

KP has the right mindset. If Saban says the kid is worthy of a scholarship, that should be good enough..

I cannot stand the recruiting industry. It's a hoax. Anyone can look at the guys who are 5 and 4 stars and say 'that's a college player.' Anyone who looks real good, but you want to be safe, give them 3 stars. Anyone who may be good but isn't as obvious as the 5 star guys... give em a 2 star. Anyone who you haven't heard of or seen.. 1 star.

It's time for my annual reminder that this industry came to be in its current form in the 90s. Many of these guys you see on TV now as 'recruiting experts' would send me stuff asking for my evaluations of the kids. They would make kids pay to come to these 'camps' in which they'd harvest the data and make a few obvious observations. Rabid fans began paying these jackasses money and it took off from there. Tom Lemming, 'the JP Morgan of recruiting gurus' was a mailman who worked in a print shop on the side.

God bless them for their hunger to create a niche for themselves.. but these guys are a big part of the cancer killing this game. They are charlatans who take your money, while you respect their knowledge that they don't really have.

okay, enjoy recruiting season now :)

I will double down on what Corey just said.

I've never cared what stars my guys get, only if he was a first offer from my staff.

You want to see something really funny?
Watch how a recruit's rating will change depending on the offers he gets, and if he takes them.

I've seen unrated players jump to 3 and 4 star, and even "solid" 4 star guys drop off the map when they accepted an offer from a school that wasn't high enough profile.

Also... you'll see player's ratings (the number assigned) change while they are not in season, or camps... what was that change based on?
Oh yeah... I need to give my subscribers something to pay for!

    Total joke.
