Question: Noah Spence gets "LIFETIME" suspension from the Big10 for use of a party drug X. I'm a little surprised. Granted he was given a 2nd chance and still chose to use X, but it's not a PED. Are players suspended for lifetime in general if they get caught 2x with PED or Marijuana?
Terry, I think he got screwed, but two failed drug tests, even if party drug, was just too much within a 12 month period. This was a B1G TEN Conference dismissal. He is on schedule to graduate and on scholarship by Ohio State. He still may go in the first round of the NFL Draft. He could have really helped us defensively.
We had a similar situation at Texas this year, several players who were caught in Charlie Strongs increased random testing for drugs. 2 or 3 were caught testing positive for Marijuana use, the University wanted to dismiss them on the spot but supposedly Strong said no lets keep them on scholarship, not let them play, but foot the bill for rehab/counseling and see if we can save them. One of them said screw you and left rather than do that, reports were that he loved his mj and had no intention of quitting. The other couple of guys went through the program and did marijuana during the program and failed more drug tests. Bottom line was they'd rather smoke some dope than play at Texas and get a degree from Texas. But never did they get a lifetime suspension from the B12. I really was unaware that conferences could discipline student for this sort of thing over and above what the school would do and ban them for lifetime.
Would be one of the upsets of the century if Michigan won this year. I would like to see that series get back to a competitive situation. I always enjoyed watching the games. As to the playoff picture we should know after this weekend whether one the top four could lose. Miss State doesn't have a game after this week so if they beat Ole Miss I would pencil them in.
Well today is the day all of us Buckeyes fans have been waiting for since last year. I am thankful we have the title game for the B1G TEN, wrapped us prior to going into this game. A loss would be devastating, but not like losing a chance to play for the Conference championship. While we are a 21 point favorite, I always seem to have uneasy feeling about the GAME! GO BUCKS!
Terry, Not as of this morning. Turns out he has some concussion issues and was upset when he left his apartment early Thursday Morning. (2:00 A.M. for a walk to clear his head) I can understand why his parents would really be concerned.
Very worrisome. Praying for him. kind of casts a cloud over the game. This was supposed to be his Senior Day. He's mainly a wrestler who walked on to the football team.
Great win for the Buckeyes, but downplayed due to J. T. Barrett's injury to his right leg. He was carted off in an air cast on the leg, but I am willing to bet it is broken) Michigan came to play as always and they appeared to be dominate in the first half, rushing as needed and Gardner was accurate on his passing strikes. Ohio State came out in the second half and scored on their initial drive, never to trail again. Elliott had another 100 plus yard game. These rival games always seem to be close and this year was no exception. The game was actually much closer than the final score indicates, due to two quick scores by the Buckeyes late in the game, after Barrett was injured.
Post game note: The Ohio State -Michigan rivalry now stands at 46-46 4 tie since the series began. One source is reporting an ankle injury for Barrett and maybe a broken bone, but no official report as of this hour by the university.
Terry, Cardale Jones out of Cleveland Glendale will assume the starting job. He is officially our third string QB. Big fellow will a rocket arm, but very little playing time. We will be playing on a wing and a prayer against either the Badgers or Gophers. Too bad all the way around, but you have to deal with the cards played. I think our chances of being including the top four for the title are nil to none now. Barrett has a fractured ankle and will have surgery tomorrow.
BT, Don and Stu, Sorry for the late posting but have been out of town in Michigan visiting inlaws and my family. Congrats on another Buckeye victory- the 12th in the last 14 games. Sorry to see Barnett injured for with him as your QB. the Buckeyes, IMHO, were a legitimate contender for the NC. But, with Urban as coach and with both Miller and Barnett back next year, I do not see the any change in the Buckeyes domination of this series in the near future.
Thanks Bobda. Gardner made a nice gesture by coming over to see how Barrett was after the play, when he fractured his right ankle.
