I know all of you were waiting on me. And my eyes like the bigger screens, I must admit I never thought I would get one of these big phones. But I like'm. I have a Galaxy S3 and was looking at the LG G3, the HTC One M8, the Motorola X 2014 for replacement. Definitely wanted bigger smartphone. But when I compared my S3 dimensions to my sisters new iphone 6 they were almost identical and my screen is 4.8 vs her's being 4.7. hmmmm So when I go for one more look at Verizon. I'm comparing mine to the others and while their screen dimensions are bigger they weren't really much bigger in outside dimension. Then I looked at the new display that they had out for the launch of the Galaxy Note 4. Wow it has an awesome screen (5.7), it's fast, takes a SD card, has that cool little S pen the camera both rear and front facing are great. It also has a finger print scanner which is not as good as the iphone 6 but reportedly pretty good. Also you can remove the back and change the battery. And while it's bigger than my S3 it's not huge. I made a cardboard cutout of it and have been carrying it around in my pocket to see if it'd work. I think it will. S 3 is W= 2 6/8 in H=5 9/16 in N 4 is W= 3 in H= 6 in Never thought I'd go this way, but this is a really cool phone...expensive though. 299 w/2 yr contract or about 30/month for 18 months if you want to go that way. The others are cheaper.
They were sold out when I went back so it's being shipped to me and I'll have it tomorrow. I have 2 weeks to like it or not I'll let you know.
Well the good thing about Samsung Products with regards to batteries is that unlike iphones you can open them up and stick in a fresh battery. Extra battery and charger only cost > 50$. I have one, in general I don't have issues with the battery life on my S3, but when I'm on trips where I definitely dont' want to be faced with a fading battery I bring along a full charged 2nd battery. I picked up that tip from some salesmen who come in my office and really need their phones and can't afford to be caught with a dead phone that requires a couple of hours to recharge.
I have had the G3 for several months now. I really like it but it's pushing the limits of size that I would want for a phone to carry around in my pocket or in a belt holster. The new Note 4 beats it in almost all specs but is even bigger. Hope you like it as well as you like the cardboard cutout. It will probably get better reception.
OK, OK, I've had it since Thursday and I have to say I really like it. The size isn't a problem and I love the screen size and quality. Like all new gear it has some getting used to in it, I've watched some Youtube videos on all the features, most of them are around 30 minutes long and don't necessarily cover everything. I've always carried my phones in my pocket so the belt issue isn't a consideration. But it's fine in my pocket, probably wouldn't be if I wore tight fitting pants like the younger set seems to favor. Battery life has been good, but then I've never really had much of a problem since it just sits on my desk during the day. Right now I took it off the charger at 7:30 AM and at 4:30 it's still at 94%. When I go to bed tonight it'll probably be at around 80%. One of the features it has is ultrapower saving mode. If you get down to a pretty low number on the charge you can switch to ultrapower saving mode and it disables all the features except for phone/text and the screen is in black and white. I did that just to see when it was at 74% and it told me that I was good for something like 41 days in that mode. It also will charge, when turned off, to 80% in 30minutes or less. Haven't really used the s-pen much so I'm not sure how much it'll impact my experience. I'm also not a big photo guy so while the camera gets good reviews I actually have not even tried it yet. You can set it so that when you say shoot it fires off and you don't have to touch the camera. The whole OK Google deal is pretty cool, and supposedly when Lollipop comes out it will be even better. Right now it only listens when I'm on the home page, but it does a good job. OK Google, Call Stu...works better than any of my other phones.
I looked up the LG G3 dimensions. LG G3 2.94" x 5.75 " Note 4 3.09 x 6.04 inches A little bigger but just handling them in the store I couldn't really tell the difference.
I like my G3...wish it was just a tad smaller. I bought it because I really liked my old G2. It was still big but not quite as much so.
I use the G3 as well and like it after using an iPhone before that. One of the cool features is I can transfer anything onto my Samsung TV from the G3, movies, pics etc.... One complaint from me has been battery strength but it's mainly because it spends considerable time and battery strength searching for its location and cell towers in my remote location. The note was interesting though especially the new editions with upgrades in all the important areas. Hope you enjoy it Terry
I discovered something last night watching a youtube video on my phone. I can control the camera with my voice. So when you line up your shot you don't have to fumble for the button, just say shoot and the camera flashes. It will respond to shoot, cheese, and smile. I guess that once everybody knows that I'll have wise acres saying shoot or cheese while I'm lining up the shot ...just for a joke of course!
