More than midway of 2014 and here are my surprises: 1. Va Tech beating OSU in the Shoe 2. UF not only winning over Georgia but it was the way they dominated the dawgs 3. The Mississippi schools having the success they have had so far 4. The utter failure of Michigan ( so far ) 5. Indiana over what could be the SEC East Champion 6. The way Texas A&M has plummeted since their ass whupping of SouCar 7. The fall of SouCar including the aforementioned ass whupping 8. I would have to say the 34-0 whitewash of Mo. at Columbia by Ga. without Gurley.... starting a true freshman 9. Dobbs the QB at Tenn and how he legitimizes the Vols as a threat again 10. TCU returning to national prominence Any real surprises or shockers out of the PAC 12 other than mild upsets?
OU lost by 4 at TCU and only by 1 at home vs. KSU. Otherwise they have performed pretty well it seems. So far they are a far cry from say... a SouCar collapse for example.
OK... a PAC 12 story makes my list... 12. The surprising success of Rich Rod at ASU.... I'm pretty surprised to tell you the truth.
Well I agree to a certain point, but after the Sugar Bowl last year OU was annointed a favorite to be one of the 4 playoff teams, the were #3 and #4 in the preseason polls. So a loss to Baylor would leave them 3-3 in B12 play and in danger of finishing the season unranked.
Lotta football left to be played. I was a bit surprised that East Carolina got their ass kicked so bad this past weekend. That game was not as close as the 20-10 score would indicate.
Yes... I agree if OU loses again they fall in to the also ran surprise group. I think ECU was achieving above expectations.... and came back a little in the loss.... but still they could have barged in on the major bowl party. I was unaware also that Stanford might have a down year but then again of course I don't know that much about the PAC 12.
I don't talk much smack but I am happily awaiting the FSU game in two weeks. Miami the darling of nobody but those few who continue to be true to pull for the Canes. Miami is on a roll, improving since its last defeat to put doubt into the Cane fans crying for change. We now have the 11th ranked defense in the land with an average of 300 yards of rushing offense our last three games. North Carolina entered the game averaging 43 points per game against teams such as Notre Dame. Miami had a 30-0 advantage at halftime and finished with 40 points. Miami is off for two weeks waiting for FSU as they play Virginia. I may take the points against the Noles....
Both UF and Ga were off two weeks before playing each other. One took advantage.... one did not. Hope the Canes take advantage.... 8)
ECU was overachieving in name only. If you've seen them, they are a very good team. They got into some bad weather against a Temple team that is better than anyone thought they'd be, and just couldn't get their legs underneath them. Miami beating the Noles would be one of those all-time Cane things. Carson has a lot of Canes on his mother's side of things, and they seem to be buying in.
Frankly, I'm surprised Muschamp hasn't done better at FSU (Kentucky and Missouri?) until this past weekend.
Well I'm a bit surprised Muschamp has been coaching at FSU AND Florida. No wonder he has seemed a bit out of focus. I guess Rich Rod has the same type of dual coaching role..... lol Corey.... I don't think that you're too wide right with that viewpoint...
Arizona provides Rich more fashionable sideline gear than the boring baseball cap and windbreaker supplied in Ann Arbor:
