I think Alabama is going to lose and it should not be a surprise. Our defense is not overpowering and out offense faltered. We may pull it out but this is a defensive fail.
That's the thing that gets me about this Bama team. I know people fuss about Kiffin and always look for the story there, but WTF is going on with that defense? You guys made them look better than they are. Hopefully you guys rebound soon.
Corey, No offense but you have a keen sense of the obvious. That is what I have been saying all year. Our defense is not up to Alabama standards. Our defense needs to cover when our offense falters. Ole Miss throttled our offense and our defense did not step up. The result=Loss!
I always think Alabama can just reload due to the sheer incredible success of you guys have had recruiting. But as we all know, esp Mack Brown followers....there's a long way from being a top recruit by ratings and a solid college player.
None taken KP.. My point is that the defense is Saban's specialty, especially the defensive backfield. Kirby is one of the finest DCs in the game. Granted, the kids have to play the game but you've been saying all along that they were weak. It's not that I was ignoring you before, but you'd think that is the side of the ball to get shored up quickest.
The Tide was due to lose at some point. A lot of upsets today and the polls will look quite different tomorrow.
Very true KP, but I have a lot of confidence in you guys doing just that. No one has more 5 star talent. Then you toss in the 2 best coaches on that side of the ball outside of the NFL, and better days are ahead.
I know we've talked about social media taking away from the game, but in this instance, the students used it for fun. http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2014/10/4/6909047/ole-miss-goalposts-oxford-mississippi-alabama
RK TEAM RECORD PTS 1 Florida State (27) 4-0 1416 2 Oregon (13) 4-0 1405 3 Alabama (13) 4-0 1387 4 Oklahoma (7) 4-0 1357 5 Auburn 4-0 1272 6 Texas A&M 5-0 1206 7 Baylor 4-0 1149 8 UCLA 4-0 975 9 Notre Dame 4-0 972 10. Michigan State 3-1 944 Oregon, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and UCLA went down the drain. Notre Dame and Michigan State survived scares in the rain. Only FSU and Auburn looked convincing...
The day that Alabama celebrates a single victory like this is the day that Alabama football has fallen too far. :?
That is pretty cool, special victory for Ole Miss. I have been a Hugh Freeze doubter, and have figured he's a fraud with a bagman to buy recruits. That the hammer of the NCAA is just waiting in the shadows. But he coached a good game, and I thought Bama would crush them and end their dreams. I really did, I thought it'd be worse than the Fla game. But regarding the goal posts. I'm just glad nobody got hurt. There have been numerous instances of students taking down modern goal posts and getting severely injured when they come down.
Terry, I think Alabama has a great chance to win every game they play. So why would I react by tearing down the goal posts at my home stadium when they do win? It seems to me that you only do that when you are totally surprised by the win. I'm never surprised by an Alabama win. 8) Actually I guess it would be more likely I would do that when we lose, not when we win.
I've never understood wanting to damage your field like that. It's a huge cost to replace goalposts, and as Terry said also dangerous. I'm happy to say it will never happen at A&M, it's just not in our culture.
I dunno, Miss State is just mauling people right now. They look pretty darn good. They aren't pretty, but they hit. True, but not everyone gets to be King Kong. Ole Miss got has beaten you guys before, though not often. They've never beaten you with everyone watching and all the marbles on the table. I do believe the Tide fans haven't taken down the goal posts at home, but they did take them down after the 78 Sugar Bowl win over Ohio State. Those were different times.
No, I just went to Google. I was under the impression that Alabama was the SEC Dynasty then as well? My bad.
Did you check out Kevin Scarbinksy's article? http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/10/next_time_ole_miss_wins_a_big.html For those who don't know, if you live here in football country, Scarbinksy is one of your mandatory reading spots for football talk. He's no Jim Murray, but he does a good job pissing people off and keeping things entertaining.
