After watching the Florida offense twist in the wind for three quarters finally Muschamp must have gotten the phone call from the top booster or something and he put Treon Harris in the game vs. Tn. The first pass was a beaut..... nice touch and right on the money for a critical first down. Now Willy says he doesn't know who is going to start vs. LSU. Really?? You're kiddin me! How does Harris not get most if not all of the first team reps in practice this week?
The stats for your passing game were awful, which Iguess explains the 10 points. I'm always amazed at the blind spots some coaches get with regards to players, esp at QB. What sometimes seems so obvious to everybody watching seems lost on the HC.
This guy seems more pig-headed than most. I can imagine it must not be very much fun working for Will Muschamp. Someone has suggested he would be very tough as a DC somewhere.... and I concur. But as a HC he just has tunnel vision... and no creative vision. If Driskel would have come back out there and wasted that golden opportunity created by a Tenn fumble I might have throw a brick at the TV....
I saw on another board that the Gators cancelled or postponed their regular Monday Press Conference. What's up?
Treon Harris...legal problems? Suspended from the Team? http://thefanbuzz.com/story/breaking-florida-gators-qb-treon-harris-has-been-suspended-from-team/ Driskell it is I guess.
Wow.... Skybox broke this news to me and it's bad either way. Obviously an accusation alone is not a guilty verdict but either way it screws Harris and the rest of the football team and ultimately Will Muschamp. If guilty only Harris himself deserves the accompanying grief and penalty but if not guilty a whole lot of others will feel the pain needlessly. For the accusers sake Treon had better be guilty and he will most assuredly be off the team and hopefully in jail. This isn't something that should be accused lightly though.
Not good news for the Gators! It seems to me that with the current media presence, any infringement by a college athlete, is catastrophic. If Harris is convicted, then he should be expelled and lose his scholarship
If Harris is guilty then obviously he deserves all the bad things that are going to happen to him and the rest of the program will have to deal with and appreciate the fact that another sex offender is off the streets and feel very bad for the victim. If he is not gulity then it still may very well spell the end of UF's season and of Will Muschamp's tenure at Florida because until they conclude their investigation Treon is suspended..... unlike Jameis Winston at Free Shoes University who was allowed to play, accept the Heisman trophy and win the national title.
In a weird way events since FSU allowed Winston to continue playing while under a prolonged investigation, along with other high profile incidents involving NFL and College players, may have impacted how players are treated going forward. Texas had to kick 2 kids off the team and both are facing serious sexual assualt charges after an incident in a dorm. 2 years ago Case McCoy and another player also faced investigation and neither were kicked off during that time..of course it was after an Alamo Game with Oregon State so football was over. But I think times are changing and I think it's going to be nearly impossible to keep players on the team during an investigation for any kind of violence, esp against women.
So.... an investigation is just that.... the GPD ( aka The Keystone Cops ) are "looking in to it" and "investigating" it. So this may take months and the direction of the program in the interim could be drastically altered.... as in "new coach". He had better be guilty is all I'm saying. If he was found guilty I wouldn't want him to be the face of a turnaround, an SEC East Championship.... etc. etc. So there it is..... a launched investigation is a damaging indictment until proven otherwise. Guilty as accused until proven innocent. Seems like our laws really got turned inside out..... but's that's the bitter reality of it I guess.
We have 5 players sitting out the season so far waiting for an academic violations investigation. You probably can't hurry the legal system but the academic investigation is dragging on and on.
Driskel is like the god damned CIA. He's really ineffective lately, but weird things keep coming up to keep him in place. Muschamp is done, or should be, no matter what happens to this kid. It's not like the new QB led an offensive explosion. Can we stop continually saying things like 'if true...' and 'if proven'... we all know false accusations come up. We also know that the vast majority of rapes go unreported because people won't believe them. We spend more time talking about the hypothetical of 'if he's accused falsely' rather than we talking about what should happen if it's true.. which btw, I believe rape is a death penalty case but no one listens to me.
Guilty until proven innocent.... I don't think that will ever work for me. Especially in a he said - she said type of a case. I'm right with you on the severity of the crime needing severe punishment..... when it's proven beyond all reasonable doubt that a crime was committed.
point being, sexual assault and rape are the only 2 types of cases in which I can remember the fans rushing to say 'whoa, let's just see how this all plays out. it's a he said/she said.' If he was busted for auto theft, or a drive by, or physical assault, we'd be singing a different tune. We should probably ask why.
Somebody can say they saw a player do something.... steal a car etc..... and it might be completely false. Same deal as this..... has to be proven guilty and that's a good thing for all of us obviously.
Well Treon Harris dad is a Hurricane coach isn't that enough proof!!!! Sorry that was in very poor taste I know....I hope for the young man's sake it's proven wrong and the timing of this event is incredible as he is about to be named the starting QB. FSU wins a championship and it's starting QB wins the heisman with the same allegations but never suspends its QB. Once again the timing of this is suspicious....
There are some folks that don't jump at the first story to hit the web, no matter what the allegation. I would like to at least give a story 24 hours before assuming guilt. Now for serious allegations, the reality of the world is that maybe he has to be suspended, but as to assuming guilt, I have to agree with MCG, lets see how this plays out. 8)
KP, The GPD and Urban Meyer a few years ago were judge and jury with another young Qb in the program and basically he was asked to leave.... so he went on and won Auburn a national championship.... Cam Newton. Maybe he was a real slimeball..... but all we can do is assume he was because he never got the chance to present his side of the the story.
Queen of Hearts: Now... are you ready for your sentence? Alice: Sentence? But there has to be a verdict first... Queen of Hearts: Sentence first! Verdict afterwards. Alice: But that just isn't the way... Queen of Hearts: [shouting] All ways are...! Alice: ...your ways, your Majesty.
