So the kid who ran on to the field at the Shoe last weekend and was body slammed by the Ohio State coach, is a 4th year engineering student who was on scholarship. He is now going to lose that scholarship. I sort of feel bad for him, he hasn't said why he did it, nobody has made any comments that indicated he was drunk. While he was an idiot, and he got what he deserved I think Urban Meyer's comment that he'd rather his coaches don't do stuff like that. He said that he doesn't want to see some lawsuit come out of something like that, say if the body slam had done some physical damage. Which apparently it didn't. Pretty quick trigger when it's an academic scholarship student. I'm wondering why he didn't get a one week suspension instead? Or maybe not allowed to attend the first half of his classes this week?
Yeah it does seem like a quick trigger, the ESPN article said he was a 4th year Engineering student, so it would seem like if he's had a good record that they would think of something else other than pulling his scholarhip. I've heard of the Evan Scholars program, there is always a short segement on the program during one of the PGA Tournaments every year. I hope they reconsider....now of course if he's been living on the edge the whole time he's been on scholarship and this is just the latest of his escapades ..different story.
