Nice guy, but he won fewer games than any coach the last several years. He'll still be paid for 2 more years. How does he do that? Some guys just aren't head coaches... http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/11605447/kansas-jayhawks-fire-charlie-weis-lack-field-progress
8) He "miscalculated" the impact of kicking 29 players off the team and trying to replace them with Junior College players. I guess having a definite schematic advantage just doesn't go as far as some people believe...
I'm not even sure Charlie was a nice guy. I mean there were times when he seemed to be that nice guy, caring guy, etc. He did start a foundation in South Bend to help "special" kids and it's still functioning. I had somebody once tell me about how gracious Charlie was at a Charity event they attended, but I've also read reports of his being an arrogant ass hole as well. Truth as always probably is some where in between. One thing for sure Charlie is a hard worker, he worked hard at ND I have no doubt. I don't think Willingham was a hard worker. Charlie worked hard at recruiting, and had some success. Manti' Te'o isn't at Notre Dame if not for Charlie. I imagine that besides collecting a bunch of money from Kansas as well as some more money from Notre Dame that Charlie is well set financially. I doubt though if he can just give it up and sit around. Somebody will hire him as a OCoord or maybe even a QB coach. I doubt if he ever gets another HC job at any level though.
I never begrudge a man for his means of making money, so long as he doesn't exploit women or children... Charlie is not a bad coordinator, and he's one of those guys in which you can see what he's trying and how it would work. At the same time, he has to have someone else bring in the talent..and coach it up.
 He was a high school coach who BS'd his climb all the way to the New England Patriots. Then he tried to palm himself off as an NFL coach who was way above the college game and the pathetic mortals who make their living there...
No surprise. As far as being a good coordinator I do believe that. However the year he was at Florida left a lot to be desired in my opinion.
Hard to say about his 1 year at UF, if he had Brantley all year it might have been different...but after Brantley went out, he really had nothing to work with at QB. But really even if he had I'm not so sure how good he really is unless he has a superior QB like a Brady Quinn or Jimmy Clausen and even with those guys while his offenses were good they weren't dominant. Of course New England hasn't won a Super Bowl since he left so there's that. His 1 year at Kansas City, was pretty good...he got a lot out of Matt Cassell, but then he also had Jamal Charles.
